The DeKalb County Election Commission reminds potential candidates for the Smithville, Liberty, and Dowelltown Municipal Elections and the Board of Education races that Noon Thursday, April 7th is the qualifying deadline for the August 4th DeKalb County General Election.
Three school board members will be elected on August 4 including one from the 4th, 5th, & 6th districts. The terms are for four years except in the 4th district. The 4th district winner will fill an unexpired two year term.
The following candidates have returned qualifying petitions which have been verified by the election commission:
Kevin Hale in the 5th district
Barry Mabe in the 5th district
Incumbent W.J. (Dub) Evins, III in the 5th district
Incumbent Kate Miller in the 4th district.
Incumbent Doug Stephens in the 6th district
Three Alderman will be elected in the Smithville Municipal Election on August 4. The terms are for four years.
