88 year old William S. “Bill” Wallace of Smithville died Sunday at NHC of Smithville. He was a farmer and a member of the Smithville Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Carl Sifford, Sr. will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Harriman. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 10:00 a.m until 10:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Margaret “Mattie” Emanuel Wallace; his first wife, Merta Brown Wallace; three sons, Earl, Billy, and Stanley Wallace; two brothers, Charles and Jim Wallace; four sisters, Margaret Wallace, Minnie Gilmore, Annie Jo Turpin, and Martha Brown. He is survived by his wife, Jean Neal Wallace. Three sons, John E. Wallace of Powell, Tennessee; Carl Wallace of Conway, Arkansas; and Robert Wallace of Smithville. Four daughters, Sue and Joe Foster of Smithville, Linda and Danny Decker of Smithville, Mary and Dennis Gaddis of Coal City, Illinois, and Sarah Uerkwitz of Coal City, Illinois. Four step daughters, Nina Lawrence of Smithville, Donna Knowles of Smithville, Diane Evans of Short Mountain, and Betty Byford of McMinnville. Four step sons, Kenneth Neal of Smithville, Jimmy Neal of Smithville, Danny Neal, Sr. of Smithville, and David Neal of McMinnville. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive along with several nieces and nephews. Two daughters-in-law, Muriel Wallace of Smithville and Della Wallace of Herman, Tennessee. One brother, Ken Wallace of Knoxville. One sister, Bessie Strange of Knoxville, and one sister in law, Hazel Wallace of Knoxville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
