The annual Walk Across Tennessee competition recently ended with Rick’s Hair and Body Reflections A team emerging as the overall winner. Walk Across Tennessee is an eight-week competition to see which team can log the most miles walking or doing other exercises. The goal is for each team to walk the number of miles it takes to get across Tennessee which is 500 miles.
Rick’s Hair and Body Reflections Team A won the rotating trophy this year by walking a total of 3,474 miles. This is the equivalent of walking across Tennessee and back almost seven times! Coming in a close second was Ricks Hair and Body Reflections Team B with 3041 miles. 3rd place goes to the Moonshiners with 2778.4 miles. All together, all the teams walked a combined total of 45,939 miles…almost twice around the Earth!!! Also, another big accomplishment is that EVERY team made it across Tennessee…500 miles and over half the teams walked across Tennessee two or more times!!!!
The members of Ricks Hair and Body Reflections A team included: Rick Lattimore, Todd Testerman, Larry Justice, Jessica Williams, Lacy West, Jackie Vickers, Diane Onks, and Deborah Goodwin.
The Walk Across Tennessee is a program conducted by The University of Tennessee Extension office of DeKalb County. The goal of the program is to encourage people to exercise on a daily basis in order to stay healthy. Another competition is planned for this fall.
