84 year old James Paul Taylor of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired welder, and he attended the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. David Weeks, Martha Wilks, and Dave Carden will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Martin and Movie Mason Yates Taylor; his first and second wives, Earlene Taylor and Roberta Taylor; sisters, Carnell Keith and Elizabeth Young; and a brother, Albert Taylor. Survivors include one son, James Larry Taylor of Hoover, Alabama. One granddaughter, Shannon Taylor. One step-grandson. Two brothers, Solon Taylor and Doyle Taylor of Smithville. Three sisters, Jo Parton of Smithville and Patty Trustee and Barbara Fuson both of Nashville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
