George Lewis McClain

75 year old George Lewis McClain of McMinnville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Westside Baptist Church in McMinnville. Tyree Smith will officiate. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice White McClain; parents, Joe Haskel and Georgia Pearl Turner McClain; a daughter, Elaine Violet McClain; a brother, Cecil McClain; and sisters, Ruby Anita Rackley and Lena Marie Turner. Survivors include two sons, Geary McClain of Pennsylvania and Michael Edward McClain of Smithville.. Three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Sisters, Laura Jane McClain of McMinnville, JoAnna McClain Stuber of Florida, Mary Elizabeth Jernigan of Viola and Mae Prater of McMinnville. Brothers, William E. McClain, James H. McClain of Smithville, Walter V. McClain of Murfreesboro and Ricky McClain of Smithville. Mr. McClain’s remains have been donated to the West Virginia University Guest Register for research. The family asks that donations be made to the Westside Baptist Church in McMinnville, in lieu of flowers. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
