76 year old Opal Hale of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was retired from DeKalb General Hospital and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dave Carden will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mai Patterson; her husband, William “Junior” Hale; a sister, Erma Underwood; and a brother, Doris Patterson. Survivors include a brother, Carmon Patterson of Florida. Several nieces and nephews. Several great nieces and great nephews. Brothers-in-law, Austin Billings of Murfreesboro and Joe Underwood of Smithville. Sisters-in-law, Lorene Hale, Martha Bluhm, and Evelyn Taylor all of Smithville.
