60 year old Larry Paul Young of Smithville died Wednesday at his residence. He was a retired parts and service director at Mike Anderson Ford, a City of Smithville police officer for 26 years, and a City of Smithville Alderman for six years. He was also a Baptist. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Magness “JR” and Annie Laura Stone Young; one brother, Potter Young and a sister, Peggy Maples. Survivors include his wife, Pam Cook Young; two brothers, Kenneth and wife Susan Young and Phillip Young; and mother-in-law, Hazel Cook all of Smithville. Two sisters-in-law, Dorothy George of Alexandria and Lisa Rhody of Smithville. Three brothers-in-law, Puggy and wife Linda Cook of Alexandria, Joe and wife Brenda Cook of Watertown, and Ronnie Cook of Smithville. Special niece, Laura Hall and special great niece Sydney Popvic both of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
