84 year old Veta “Pete” Evins died Friday at NHC of Smithville. She was a homemaker, a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Association, and she was active in the local American Cancer Society. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. E.H. Denman and Jonathan Watson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lemme and Gurnia Luna Robinson and a grandchild, John Richard Foster. Survivors include her husband, John Bill Evins of Smithville. Three daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Brent Foster of Lebanon, Judy and Ron Maxwell of Alabama, and Billie and Gregory Hodges of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Five grandchildren, Ginger Wenger of Smithville, Michelle Carson of Lebanon, A.J. Fedak of Alabama, and Erin Hodges and Jesse Hodges of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Five great grandchildren, Brady Foster and Evin Dyer of Smithville, Eli and Micha Carson of Lebanon, and Ike Fedak of Alabama. Four brothers, Hebron Robinson of Spencer and Floyd, Gene, and Johnny Robinson of Sparta. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to the Lighthouse Christian Camp and New Frontiers, in lieu of flowers.
