65 year old James Robert Colwell of Smithville died Thursday at NHC of Smithville. He was a truck driver for Denny Trucking, a Baptist, and a former member of the Jaycees. The funeral will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Colwell was preceded in death by a son, William Allan Colwell; parents, Clarence William and Dealie Bates Colwell; three sisters, Johnnie Merriman, Vera Bell Davenport, Era Mai Summers; and two brothers, Clarene William Colwell, Jr and Frank Edward Colwell. Survivors include his wife, Linda Colwell of Smithville. A son, Andrew and his wife Christi Colwell of Smithville. Two step children, Alan and wife Shawn Crisp of Dowelltown and Rhonda and husband Neal Potter of Baxter. Two grandchildren, Trent Nicoson and Alex Colwell both of Smithville. Four step grandchildren, Robert Crisp and Matt Colwell of Smithville, Bradley Harriott, and Paige Herriot of McMinnville. One sister, Dorothy Young of Smithville with several other nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations please be made to the funeral fund at the funeral home to help with burial expenses, in lieu of flowers.
