Elizabeth Mary Chalfant

95 year old Elizabeth Mary Chalfant of Smithville died Monday at NHC Healthcare Center. She attended Temperance Hall Church of Christ, was a member of Eastern Star and a homemaker. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Phil Tollet will officiate with burial in Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Presley Chalfant; son, Don Chalfant, and daughter-in-law, Kay Chalfant. She is survived by a granddaughter, Dawn and husband Donnie Christian of Rock Island; great-grandson, Lou Christian of Rock Island; son, Jim and wife Karen Chalfant of Port Charlotte, Florida; grandson, Donny Paul and wife Carmella Chalfant of Dowelltown. Great-grandsons, Axyl Chalfant of Dowelltown, David and wife Susie Chalfant of Ft. Myers, Florida; great-granddaughter, Julie Chalfant of Ft. Myers, Florida, great granddaughter, Nichole Chalfant. Grandsons, Jimmy Chalfant of Atlanta, Georgia, and Chris and wife Lorie Chalfant of Plano, Texas. Great-grandson, Jax Chalfant. A sister, Ann Edelmann of New York, NY. and her caring family of nurses and staff at NHC, and her special friend and roommate, Sandy Cooper. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DeKalb County Humane Society. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
