81 year old Bud Hale of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist, and a retired mechanic with the DeKalb County School Bus Garage. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Leonard Herman and Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Hale was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mable Lawrence Hale; a brother, Jr. Hale; and a sister, Willa Dean Hale. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Oleda Hale; one daughter, Starr and her husband Larry “Horse” Ferrell all of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Jarrod Dodd of Smithville and Sherranna Dodd and husband Bobby Walker of Gallatin. Two great grandchildren, Hunter and Ava Walker of Gallatin. One sister, Dean and husband Nelson Young of Smithville. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
