73 year old Izena Griffin of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Brethren in Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bryan Jones will officiate and burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Saturday from noon until 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Griffin; parents, James Monroe and Jessie Edith Young; a son, James Ross Griffin, and a sister, Elizabeth Mahler. Survivors include a daughter, Judy and husband Steve Merriman; two grandchildren, Steve Merriman and Jake and wife Joyce Merriman; three great grandchildren, Annabell, Austin, and Hallie Merriman all of Smithville. Two brothers, Thomas and wife Faye Young of Smithville and Grady and wife Linda Young of Texas. Two sisters, Peggy and husband Gary Blankenship of Spencer and Sue and husband Sonny Guy of Smithville. Brother-in-law, Bud Mahler of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that donations be made to New Frontiers in lieu of flowers.
