76 year old Will D. Hancock of Whitwell died Wednesday. He was a graduate of Woodbury Central High School. His family resided in Chattanooga before he retired from DuPont. After retirement, Hancock and his family moved to Whitwell where he was a cattle farmer. He also served as president of the Marion County Livestock Association. Hancock was an active member of the Jasper First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. Central Daylight Time at the Jasper First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery at Liberty. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Sycamore Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Friday followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at the Sycamore Cemetery. Hancock was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Mingle Hancock; his father and mother, Valter Ray and Nonnie Craddock Hancock; and nine brothers and sisters, Nell, Alfred, Ben, Bettye Sue, Reed, Ruth, John, Jane, and an infant sister. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Alan Stephenson of Nashville. A son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Lisa Hancock of Whitwell. Four grandchildren, Reed Stephenson of Kennesaw, Georgia; Kelli and her husband Roger Hancock Layne of Whitwell; Ben Stephenson of Nashville; and Tyler Hancock of Whitwell. Two great granddaughters, Pace Stephenson and Ava Layne and several nieces and nephews. Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
