Toledo Byrd

Toledo Byrd age 61 of Dowelltown, passed away Saturday night, December 9, 2017 at her residence. She was born January 10, 1956 to her parents, the late Melvin Edward and Gladys Alberta Adamson Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Dean Yaney and Vetrice Cook; 1 brother, Clay Byrd; 2 brothers-in-law, Marvin Yaney and Billy Cook, Sr. and 1 sister-in-law, Linda Byrd. Toledo was a Pentecostal and worked as a switchboard operator with the V.A. She is survived by 3 children, Melvin (Shelia) McCloud of McMinnville, Todd McCloud of Smithville and Tolesha Suggs of Sparta; 7 grandchildren, Brett Earls, Tyler, Logan and Lexi McCloud, Conner, Cadance and Jieseyn “Jiebo” Suggs; 2 great-grandchildren, Addyson and Melody Earls; 2 brothers, Jerry Byrd of Dowelltown and Frosty Byrd of Smithville; special caregiver and cousin, Penny Martin and Alexis Bennett; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Connie Brown officiating and burial will follow in Poplar Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be Tuesday 2 PM until 8 PM and Wednesday 9 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
