The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest Saturday in a reported robbery at Nicole’s Market on Short Mountain Highway, only two hours after the incident occurred.
Detectives arrested 27 year old Christopher Mooneyham for Theft of Property.
Sheriff Patrick Ray says Mooneyham walked into the market and asked the clerk two fix him a sandwich. When the clerk walked away from the cash register, Mooneyham opened the register, took approximately $128.00 in cash, and then fled in a vehicle. The clerk, who said she did not know the man, called 911 to report the crime.
Detectives, during their investigation, discovered that a man believed to be Mooneyham was seen driving a car in a reckless manner near the Market.
Detectives later located Mooneyham and he confessed to the crime. Mooneyham’s bond was set at $3,500. His court date is July 26th.
