75 year old Elsie Mai Braswell of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired business owner of Maurice’s Family Clothiers, a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church, and the Busy Bees. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Terry Little, John Purdue, and Freddy Curtis will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Norvella Hutchens Hayes. Survivors include her husband of 57 years Maurice Braswell of Smithville. Children, Eddie Braswell of Smithville and Teresa and her husband Kenneth Robinson of Murfreesboro. Two grandchildren, Chloe and Claire Robinson. Two brothers, James Hayes of Smithville and Johnny Hayes of Pegram. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested that donations be made either to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
