93 year old Bessie Lee Atnip of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired secretary with various local businesses and a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Green will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Clemmons Organ; a daughter, Gayle King; two brothers, Wendell and Billy Organ; and a sister, Betty Jo Organ. Survivors include two sons, Charles and wife Betty Atnip and John and wife Betty Jean Atnip all of Smithville. One daughter, Phyllis and husband Ronnie Tramel of Smithville. Special son-in-law, Richard and wife Carla King of Cookeville. Eight grandchildren, Ricky and wife Lisa Atnip and John Atnip, Jr. all of Smithville, Barry Atnip and Hunter Tramel of Smithville, Dr. Cynthia King of Memphis, Eric and wife Rebecca King of Nashville, Leah and husband Eric Snow of Smithville, and Jake Tramel of Chattanooga. Several great grandchildren survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made, in lieu of flowers to the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to the Lighthouse Christian Camp.
