87 year old Bill Grissom of the Peeled Chestnut Community, Sparta died Monday at NHC of Smithville. He was a retired machine operator at Cookeville Tool & Die. A graveside service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Peeled Chesnut Cemetery. James C. Grissom will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be no visitation on Wednesday. The family will meet at the cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Grissom; his parents, Reverdy and Amanda Grissom; a daughter, Jennifer Grissom; and a brother, Robert Glenn Grissom. Survivors include one son, Rodney Grissom of Smithville. One sister, Mary and her husband Gerald Hitchcock of Rock Island. One brother, Jack Grissom of Spencer. One sister-in-law, Aleda Grissom of Spencer and several nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
