74 year old Norma Jean Crymes of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Pentecostal and a homemaker. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Rodger Thaxton will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer T and Ura C. Wilson Keller and a brother, Homer Thomas Keller. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roy Crymes of Smithville. Three children, Kathy Matthews of Goodlettsville, Billy Crymes of Smithville, and Penny Arnold of Dickson. Three grandchildren, Leslie Kopischke, Haven Matthews, and Peyton Arnold. Sisters, Barbara Williams of Madison, Margret Allen of Lyles, and Judy Hix of Hendersonville. A sister-in-law, Charlene Keller of Goodlettsville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Casandra Cooper

66 year old Casandra Cooper of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a retired nurse and a member of the Faith Chapel Church. The family has chosen direct cremation and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Martha Hollis Stewart; sisters, Marsha Schmit and Pearlie Schmit; and a brother, Verdie Stewart. Survivors include her husband, Doug Cooper of Smithville. Step-sons, Tim Cooper of Hendersonville and Andy Cooper of Springfield. One sister, Cynthia Reed of Charlotte, Tennessee. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to the Faith Chapel Church Building Fund, in lieu of flowers.

Kenny (Skinman) Stewart

McMinnville native and resident, 54 year old Kenny (Skinman) Stewart died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a sudden illness.
He attended The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Tennessee Tech University. He was past owner of Eastside Market and Tas-T-O Donuts, as well as a past driver with Averitt Express. He was a member of Charles Creek The Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul Jennings Stewart, paternal grandparents Hobert and Pauline Stewart, and maternal grandparents Eston and Venie Cope.
Survivors include his beloved mother Inez Stewart, sisters Elaine (Bob) Alsup and Annette Stewart all of McMinnville, TN, brother Danny Paul (Lynette) Stewart of Chattanooga, TN, nieces Paula (Terry) Wanamaker, Alison Cummins, Jennifer (Justin) Boyd, Kirby (Wes) Williams, and Regan Stewart, a nephew Ramsey Stewart, great-nieces and nephews Salem & Carter J. Wanamaker, Arden & Channing Cummins, Mylie & Lilla Boyd, and Connor & Kate Williams, aunts and uncles Sid & Sophie Stewart and Mattie Sue Vaughn and many beloved cousins.
Funeral service will be 1 P.M. Saturday, October 19, 2013, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Nick Pelham and Elder Darrell Cantrell will officiate. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery in DeKalb County. The Stewart Family will receive friends Friday from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M. and again Saturday from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Diabetes Association.

81 year old Glynn Roy Love of Smithville died Monday night at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville. He was a retired cabinet maker and a member of the Indian Mound The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Johnny Adcock and Frank Randolph will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Connie Bain Love. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janie Raymond Love of Smithville along with several cousins and friends. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that NO food or LIVE flowers be brought or sent to the funeral home.

Phillip Hale

78 year old Phillip Hale of the Pea Ridge Community died Sunday night at his residence. He was a retired construction worker and farmer and he attended the Mt. Moriah The Baptist Church. A graveside service and burial will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hale Cemetery in the Pea Ridge Community. Leonard Herman will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at which time Mr. Hale’s remains will be taken to the cemetery. Hale was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Edgar and Clara Lee Sissom Hale; his wife of 56 years, Betty Sue Keith Hale; and brothers, Roy, Carl, and Robert Cook. Survivors include his children, Patricia Beth Strode, Amy Linda Mathis, Phillip Mark and wife Mary Elizabeth Hale and Tracy Lee and husband Randel Knowles. Eight grandchildren, Sarah Thomas, Jarrad and wife Jamie Mathis, Jessica and husband Andy Pack, Megan Anne Strode, Sabrina and husband Jordan Melton, Mary Beth Strode, Lucas Knowles, and Clara Knowles. Five great grandchildren, Samantha Mathis, Ella Pack, Willie Mathis, Ava Pack, and Miles Strode. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

70 year old Mary Ella Lattimore of Smithville died Sunday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and attended the Mount Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. Lattimore was preceded in death by her husband, James Estil Lattimore; infant daughter; parents, Robert Sheily Shehane and Julia Mae Williams Shehane Johnson; great grandchildren, Haley and Grady Hawkins; brothers, Robert, Maxie, Frank, Toy B., Hoyte, and Ben Shehane; and sisters, Willene Saylors, Lura Jean Reeder, and Mae Lattimore. Survivors include children, Larry Estil Lattimore of Smithville, Ronnie and wife Joyce Lattimore of Smithville, Carl and wife Renea Lattimore of Liberty, Trish Lattimore of Cookeville, and Tiffany Lattimore of Smithville.
