86 year old Rosa Belle Cabral of Smithville and formerly of Falmouth, Massachusetts died Friday after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cabral of Falmouth, Massachusetts. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Kenneth and Marilyn Cabral of Smithville, Ronald and June Cabral of Sparta, and Steven and Lynda Cabral of East Falmouth, Massachusetts. Also six grandchildren, Kim Cabral of Smithville, Kristen and Eric Kulkarni of Smithville, Tim and Carla Cabral of Sparta, Titus Cabral of Sparta, Kathy Cabral of Murfreesboro, and Allen and Trisha Cabral of Duffield, Virginia. Three great grandchildren, Allisha, Kara, and Evan Cabral of Duffield, Virginia and a sister, Brenda Vincent of Milton, Louisiana. She was a member of the Smithville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sparta on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 4:30 p.m. Ronald Cabral will officiate.

Lois Ruth Smith Anderson
Lois Ruth Smith Anderson peacefully passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013 in the home built by her Grandfather, and where she had many childhood memories. She reflected that she “courted” her husband, John in the parlor. Mrs. Anderson was born to Norman and Vora Smith on December 6, 1919. She is preceded in death by her husband John O. Anderson, brothers Norman Smith and Warren G. Smith, and a sister, Ruth Lucille Smith Whittaker, Clark. Lois leaves behind a sister, Wands Smith Briggs and numerous nieces, nephews and their families, as well as her foster children, the Baker family.
Lois had a long career as an educator. She began her career teaching in a one room schoolhouse at Cherry Hill. Lois then taught at Baxter Seminary and David Lipscomb and then for many years as a professor of English at Tennessee Technological University, from where she retired.
Mrs. Anderson was an avid community leader and was very active in Silver Point Church of Christ, as well as Jefferson Street Church of Christ. After her retirement, Lois volunteered thousands of hours at Cookeville Regional Hospital. She and her late husband, John were both very active in the Republican Party, both serving as delegates at national conventions; Lois was also elected as TN State Republican Chairwoman.
Memorial services for Lois Ruth Smith Anderson, age 93, of Silver Point will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, October 13, at the Silver Point Church of Christ.

85 year old Christene M. Adamson of Liberty died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired U.S. Postmaster and a 50 year member of the O.E.S.#488. The funeral will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Elders Charles Allen Gentry and Dewey Dyer will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. An Eastern Star Service will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, F.A. and Thelma Adamson Mathis and her husband of 59 years, Robert Adamson. Survivors include two sons, Don Adamson of Liberty and Danny Adamson of Murfreesboro. Two grandchildren, Derek Kevin and wife Amanda Adamson of Knoxville and Malea and husband Eric Thompson of Thompson Station. One brother, Medford and wife Elese Mathis of Watertown. Six grandchildren, Penny and Terry Arnold of Chattanooga, Curtis Lee Adams, Scott and Anita Adams, and Melinda and Johnny Lattimore, Wendi Bain, and Janie and Terry Pedigo all of Smithville. 70 year old Lonnie Estes died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. Born in Cannon County, Estes was a member of the Short Mountain Church of God and he was retired from the Cannon County Highway Department. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Charlie Lawson will officiate and burial will be in the Gunter Grizzle Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Estes was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Viella Thomas Estes and infant sister, Leona Estes. Survivors include four children, Donnie and wife Rie Estes of Beth Page, Michael Estes, Rose and husband Arthur Brown, and Jennifer and husband Glenn Edge all of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Caldwell and Johnathon and Cody Edge. Four sisters, Betty and husband Jessie Tanner, Ruth and husband Medford Murphy, and Virginia and husband Jay Waycaster all of the Short Mountain Community and Dorothy Hobby of the Pea Ridge Community.
