41 year old Eddie Smith, Jr. of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a welder for the Yorozu Corporation. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dry Creek Baptist Church. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Orbra Smith, Sr. and grandmother, Deloris Miller. Survivors include two children, Emily and Eric Smith of Michigan; mother, Victoria Deplace of Knoxville. Girl friend, Tammy Brown of Smithville. One sister, Tammi and husband Gaylon Gora of Smithville. Four nieces and nephews, Sasha and Michael Cervenka both of Knoxville, Natasha Cervenka of Murfreesboro and Marissa and husband Adam Tramel of Dowelltown. One great niece and five great nephews. 79 year old John A. Palmer, Jr. of Gainesville, Florida died Saturday, July 27 in Florida. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired pharmacist. A graveside service was held Friday, August 2 at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Royce Martin officiated. Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Fuson Palmer. Survivors include a son, John III and wife Elizabeth Palmer of Florida and their son, Henry. One daughter, Janna and husband Evan Reid of Florida and their children, Jack and Evan. 54 year old Pamela Sue Hitchcock of the Dibrell community died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. A Freewill Baptist, she was formerly employed at Star Manufacturing. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Crain Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard F.L. Middleton; a daughter, Margaret Ann Hullett; and sisters, Dorothy, Donna, and Barbara. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Larry Hurst of Sparta. One son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jacqueline Yates of Rocky River, Tennessee. Six grandchildren Trevor and Lilly Hurst of Sparta and Chloe, Zackery, Will, and Jase Yates all of Rocky River. Leslie Howard Moore

70 year old Leslie Howard Moore of Rock Island, died Wednesday at his residence. He was born in Cannon County, Mr. Moore retired from the State of Tennessee with the Division of Property Assessment. He was a member of New Union The Baptist Church, has served as a minister in The Baptist Church Associations for 30 years, was a member of Short Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 373, and was an avid hunter. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents Orville Howard and Grace Cope Moore.
Survivors include his wife Gail Moore, sons Mark Moore, Rock Island, TN, Paul (Joann) Moore, Smyrna, TN, and Jonathan (Crystal) Moore, Rock Island, TN, and daughter Abigail (Eric) Wood, McMinnville, TN, grandchildren Jordan, Nathaniel, Anthony, and Hailey Moore, and Caleb and Aniston Wood, and brother Lynn (Helen) Moore, Rock Island, TN. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Eric Wood, Elder Brent Craven, and Elder Bryan Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery in DeKalb County. Pauline Malone Tramel

97 year old Pauline Malone Tramel of Nashville died Tuesday, July 23, at her residence. She was a dedicated educator having served at Liberty High School and at Watertown. She was a Christian leader in the Methodist Church, Civic organizer, loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She was a graduate of State Teacher’s College in Murfreesboro in 1939 and taught in the DeKalb County and Metro Nashville public school system for 27 years, and was a member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church. Her roots ran deep in DeKalb County with relatives in the Malone and Tramel families. The funeral will be will be held Wednesday, July 31, at Noon at Belle Meade United Methodist Church with a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 noon at Belle Meade United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Tramel and son, Jim Tramel. She is survived by a son, Lynn Tramel and daughter-in-law, Toni Tramel, and granddaughter, Blair Tramel. The family request that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the James T. Tramel Scholarship Fund at Martin Methodist College or to Belle Meade United Methodist Church where she was an active member for 61 years. 48 year old Miranda Joy (Mosely) Fox of Gordonsville died Sunday at Vanderbilt Hospital. She was a DeKalb County native and a homemaker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Christ Church Pentecostal of Gordonsville, where she was a member. Kerry Dugan will officiate and burial will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and Tuesday from noon until the service at the church. Fox was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Dickens and Mary McPherson Dickens; a sister-in-law, Betty Ann and husband Billy Christian; and a brother-in-law, Carl Fox, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Albert Fox of Gordonsville. Children, Alanda Fox and Logan Fox both of Gordonsville. Brothers, Darren Dickens of Defeated and Chris and wife Holly Dickens of Watertown.
