Roger Dale Vinson

56 year old Roger Dale Vinson of Sparta died Monday at the DeKalb Community Hospital. Roger was born in White County to the late James Floyd and Ella Pearl Cantrell Vinson. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers: James Edward Vinson, Robert (Dick) Vinson, and John Vinson and Sister: Hilda Lois Vinson.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda Rose Vinson of Sparta. A daughter: Ashley Vinson of Sparta. Two sons, Jason and wife Melinda Lewis of Sparta and Chris and wife Tia Lewis of Sparta. A brother, Alfred Vinson. Two sisters, Talitha and husband Dale Looney of Sparta, and Carolyn Murphy of Sparta. Sister-in-Law, Carol Rose of Sparta. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. Burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Lee Neal and Tommy Lee Davis will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

James Alex Pedigo

78 year old James Alex Pedigo of Sparta died Monday at his residence. He attended the Church of Christ and was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked at the shirt factory, Co-op and Convience Center. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Funeral Home with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Elmore Judd and Doyle Crawford will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents James Monroe and Ethel Mai Foster Pedigo, as well as ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janie Pitman Pedigo of Sparta; sister, Eva Cubbins of Smithville; brother, Alfred Pedigo of Smithville. Sallie Leora Hibdon

99 year old Sallie Leora Hibdon of McMinnville died Sunday at her residence. She was a member of Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1927 and a homemaker. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Izear and Edna Taylor Vanatta; her husband, Wilcey Hibdon; a daughter, Georgia Moore; and two grandchildren, Anita Eldridge and Janice McMillen. Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Loretta and husband Manuel Fernandez of Michigan. A son-in-law, Lindy Moore of Kentucky. Two grandsons, Chris Baltorich and Bwana Fernandez both of Michigan. Marvin “Pete” Parker

86 year old Marvin “Pete” Parker of Smithville died Sunday at his residence. He was a member of the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church and he served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Parker was a baseball coach in Birmingham, Michigan and in 1973 he coached the Little League All-Star Team to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He retired from the Ford Motor Tractor Division. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Flora Taylor Parker; a son, Marvin Taylor Parker; and two brothers, Kenneth and Jack Parker. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucy Parker of Smithville. A son and daughter-in-law, David and Becky Parker of Smithville. Daughter-in-law, Michelle Parker of Michigan. Elmer Dean Wallace of Rutherford County died Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the Church of Christ and he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Clark Metal and Iron. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home in Murfreesboro. John Tipton will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Monday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Tillman and Roxie Riller Wallace. Wayne Vanderpool

69 year old Wayne Vanderpool of Smithville died Friday at VA Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was affiliated with the Smithville Church of God. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of the Tennessee Constable Association, as well as a retired school teacher, auto mechanic, and constable for the third district of DeKalb County. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bill Robertson and Jeff Armstrong will officiate with burial in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Algie Lee and Dora Kay Vanderpool, and infant brother James David Vanderpool. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Puckett Vanderpool of Smithville; children, Wayne Reed Vanderpool and Julia Cantrell, and Melissa and Philip Wallace, all of Smithville. Willie E. Murphy

78 year old Willie E. Murphy of Liberty died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the People’s Pentecostal Church and a crane operator at the Chrysler Corporation for 32 years. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Howard Carroll will officiate and burial will be in the Gunter-Grizzle cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Murphy was preceded in death by parents, Grady and Bertha Murphy and four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Christine Murphy of Liberty. Four sons, Larry Edward Murphy of Windham, Ohio; Lee Roy Murphy of Ravenna, Ohio; Jeffery Wayne Murphy of Liberty; and Michael Anthony Murphy of Liberty. Two sisters, Beulah Mia Bishop of Nashville and Peggy and Vernon Bogle of Woodbury. Four grandsons, seven granddaughters, six great grandsons, and nine great granddaughters also survive. Mae Elizabeth Lattimore

71 year old Mae Elizabeth Lattimore of Smithville died Thursday night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was retired from Kingston Timers, a homemaker, and she attended the Whorton Springs Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bernard Houk, David Mahan, and Junior Ellis will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. Lattimore was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sheily Shehane and Julia Mae Williams Shehane Johnson. A son, Brad Lattimore. Brothers, Robert, Maxie, Frank, Toy B. Hoyte, and Ben Shehane; and sisters, Willene Saylors and Lura Jean Reeder. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James D. Six grandchildren, Steve Mabe, Chris Burton, Rachel Anderson, Ashley Satterfield, Glen Lattimore, and Jody Lattimore. Rickey Ashford

52 year old Rickey Ashford of Liberty died Wednesday at his residence. Born in DeKalb County, he was a carpenter. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Hale Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Allen Ashford and Geraldine Smith; a daughter, Gidget Deshealea Ashford Patterson; and a sister, Tina. Survivors include a son, Allen Ashford and fiance’ Tavia Keith. A daughter, Dana and husband Chris Stanley. 92 year old Carter Glen Davenport of Liberty died Wednesday at his residence. Born in DeKalb County, he was a carpenter, member of the New Hope Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran.
