Roger Wendell McKenney

A graveside service for 75 year old Roger Wendell McKenney of Smithville will be Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Griffin Cemetery in Watertown. McKenney died Wednesday morning at DeKalb Community Hospital. Born in Maine, McKenney was the son of the late Wendell and Dorothy Ballard McKenney. He is survived by his wife, Betty McKenney of Smithville; daughter, Debra McKenney of Smithville. Four grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister. J.L. Reeder

96 year old J.L. Reeder of Alexandria died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. Born in Grant, he was the son of the late John and Sarah Barnes Reeder. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren. He was a life long farmer and a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church. Reeder is survived by his wife of 75 years, Lena Sorrell Reeder; sons, William Edward Reeder and wife, Patsy of Watertown, Fred Allen Reeder and wife, Edwina of Tuckers Cross Roads, and Charles Thomas Reeder of Alexandria; daughters, Virginia Ann Curtis and husband, Tommy of Smithville, Betty Ruth Swindell and husband Sam of Tuckers Cross Roads. Nancy Marie Hayes and husband, Joe of Lebanon, Carolyn Frances Rice and husband, Gary of Louisville, Kentucky, Linda Gale George and husband, Jimmy of Watertown. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Emmo Jean Neal Wallace

88 year old Emmo Jean Neal Wallace of Smithville died Saturday at NHC. She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Smithville Church of God. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. Donnie Kelly and Jeff Armstrong will officiate and burial will be in the Keith Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. Wallace was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Neal; her second husband, Bill Wallace; parents, Ben and Sophie Jones; and a sister, Helen Mayo. Survivors include four sons, David and wife Gloria Neal of McMinnville, Danny Neal of Smithville, Kenneth and wife Jeanette Neal of Smithville, and Jimmy and wife Carol Neal of Smithville.Four daughters, Nina and husband Luther Lawrence of Smithville, Donna Kay and husband Donnie Knowles of Smithville, Betty and husband Glenn Byford of McMinnville, and Diane and husband Danny Evans of Short Mountain. 82 year old Curtis Marie Kocis of Rock Island died Friday at Riverside Hospital. She was a Catholic and a hair dresser. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Lawson Hutchings and Lucinda Adcock Hutchins; brothers, Gene, John, Donald, and Frank Hutchings; sister, Lana Scott; brother-in-law, Howard Stafford. Eugene Dimmick

91 year old Eugene Dimmick of Lancaster died Friday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was also a tool engineer. A graveside service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillview Memorial Cemetery. Royce Moore will officiate. Dimmick was preceded in death by his parents, Geff and Anastasia Bosolwetz Dimmick; his first wife, Margaret Dimmick and his second wife, Alice Dimmick. A son, Henry Dimmick. A grandson, Eugene Dimmick, and a brother, Edward Dimmick. He is survived by his children, Margaret Newland of Florida, Eugene Jeffrey Dimmick, and Victoria and husband Ronald Johnson of New York. Thelma Leonia Shaver Wright

81 year old Thelma Leonia Shaver Wright of Livingston died at the Overton County Nursing Home on Tuesday.
Mrs. Thelma Leonia Shaver Wright was born on Brotherton Mountain in Putnam County on June 26, 1931 to the late Lemuel and Leona Crecellious Shaver.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston, TN with burial to follow in the Brotherton Cemetery in Putnam County. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, evening November 1, 2012 from 6-9 PM. Bro. Wayne Blaylock will be officiating.
Survivors include four sons: Ray Rockwell, Don Rockwell, John Wright, and Andrew Wright; 1 Step Son: Frankie Wright; 2 Daughters: Kim Wright-Endsley and Sylvia Long; 3 Step Daughters: Roberta, Sheila and Bonnie. 18 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

59 year old Billy Wayne Miller of Smithville died Saturday at NHC of Smithville. He was a member of the New Home Baptist Church and he was a former nurseryman with Judkins Nursery. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Homer and Ione Sandlin Miller and a daughter, Christie Miller. 19 year old Johnny Ray Farless of Smithville died Thursday at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage
The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was a member of the Emmanuel Bread of Life.
Farless was preceded in death by his father, Waylon Farless and grandparents, Rose and Larry Cobble.
He is survived by his mother, Keisha Farless and fiancee Charles Young of Smithville. A sister, Montana Farless of Smithville. Grandparents, Jerry and Terrie Bogle of Smithville, Ronnie and Cynthia Farless of Smithville, and Cheryl McCowan. Aunts, Amanda Cobble of Smithville and Amanda Farless and Crystal Farless.. 65 year old James Robert Colwell of Smithville died Thursday at NHC of Smithville. He was a truck driver for Denny Trucking, a Baptist, and a former member of the Jaycees. The funeral will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Colwell was preceded in death by a son, William Allan Colwell; parents, Clarence William and Dealie Bates Colwell; three sisters, Johnnie Merriman, Vera Bell Davenport, Era Mai Summers; and two brothers, Clarene William Colwell, Jr and Frank Edward Colwell. 46 year old Patsy Darlene Fults of the Pea Ridge Community died Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a member of the Sanders Fork Baptist Church and worked in Home Health. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Wesley Fults. Survivors include a son, Jonathan Nichols of Pea Ridge. Her mother, Martha Fults of Smithville. A sister, Diane and husband Jeff Hardin of Smithville.
