Dezza Lee Mills began her life on May 4, 1926 and shared it with those who knew and loved her until she passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017
in Mount Vernon, OH at the age of 91 yrs. She was born to the late Minnie (Buchanan) and Rupy Capps in Chattanooga, TN where her dad was
working at the time. She was raised in Swannanoa, NC where she met the love of her life, Claude Mills in the 4th grade. They married in 1946
and moved to Ohio to start their life together. They were married for 67 years when he passed away in 2013. A graduate of Crossnore High
School, her time there was life changing and she maintained a strong connection to that exceptional school. She retired after 40 years
service from Nationwide Insurance Co. Floral design and crafts came naturally to her, it was a gift. She was an accomplished seamstress
and a perfectionist with anything she put her hands on. She devoted her life to the love and care of her family. She loved making a home
and had excellent taste,she was a giving person whose generosity knew no bounds. Her remaining family who loved her are daughter, Rebecca
(Russ) McBride; son, David Mills, Janet; grandchildren, Laurel (Gary) Foreman, Alisha (Michael) Wilhide, Judith (Bubba) Oliver, Zac (Shalagh) McBride, Hannah Mills, Samuel (Alyse) Mills, Micah Mills; great grandchildren, Kailee and Garrett, Claudia, Jesse, Cohen, Dakota, Bailey, Mackenzie, Adalynn, Tristan, Scarlett, Savannah, Silas. She was preceded in death by her 4 brothers. While we will miss her always, each of us have so many special memories of our time together. She loved her family and gave that love freely, spending time with them was what gave her the most joy in her life. She passed secure in the love of the Lord and her family, taken from this world, but not from our hearts. You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Wilson

Donna Gail Evans
Donna Gail Evans age 56 of McMinnville passed away Tuesday afternoon at the St. Thomas River Park Hospital ER. She was born March 10, 1961 to her parents, the late Joe Alfred Mullican and Violet Fuson Starnes. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Roy and Allie Fuson and paternal grandparents, Homer and Mary Elizabeth Mullican. She was a security guard with Bridgestone and member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church. Donna is survived by her husband, Jerry Evans of McMinnville; 2 children, Charles Shannon (Jennifer) Adcock of Smithville and Amanda Gail and her husband, Jeremy Henry of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Ryan and Ethan Carter, Makenzey Henry and Charles “Nate” Adcock; mother, Violet Starnes of Smithville; several aunts, uncles, cousins and her Bridgestone family. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Friday, July 14, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. James Thomas Gibbs officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Donald Edwin Ray, Sr.
Donald Edwin Ray, Sr. age 78 of Smithville passed away Monday morning, July 10, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. He was born February 21, 1939 to his parents, the late Thurman and Lula Lakey Ray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marzell Barnes Ray; 4 brothers, Burnice Ray, George Ray, J.T. Ray, Clayton Ray; 3 sisters, Imogene Rogers, Lois and Ruth Ray. Mr. Donald was retired from Century Electric/Magnatek and was a member of the New Union The Baptist Church. Survivors include 2 sons, Eddie (Tapatha) Ray and Cary Ray both of Smithville; 3 grandchildren, Dusten (Brandi) O’Connor, Julie (Chris) Ponder, Ethan (Samara) Ray all of Smithville; 9 great-grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Ellie, Austin, K’sin, Kylah, Elizabeth, Gracelynn and Hannah; 1 sister, Nell Rankhorn of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, July 13, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Keith Sims officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 10AM until 8 PM and Thursday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Martha Collins Coleman
Martha Collins Coleman age 97, went home to be with the Lord July 9, 2017, at NHC HealthCare of Smithville. Martha was born February 16, 1920 in Atkins, Arkansas to her parents, the late Emmett and Eula Voss Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Wilson Coleman and her younger sister, Shirley Jeanne Collins House.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth and husband Jim Wood with whom she made her home for the past twenty years; granddaughters, Shirley DiAnne Maxwell Wood and Christine Manders and her grand-dog, Levi of Jacksonville, Florida. She leaves behind many beloved cousins and treasured friends all across the country, who look forward to seeing her again one day.
Martha was a fine Christian lady, a member of Wellspring Church in Blytheville, Arkansas, and an outgoing inspiration to many wherever she lived. She was office manager for Robertson Distributing Company in Blytheville for 50 years. Upon retirement, she moved to Arlington, Texas the home of her daughter and son-in-law, then moved to Smithville, TN with them in 2000. One of her favorite quotes by the Apostle Paul, “…whatsoever ‘state’ I am in I will be content.” She never lost her sense of humor.
Her family has honored her request to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at her church, Blues Hill Cumberland Presbyterian, McMinnville, TN at a future time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Barbara A. (Bobbie) Adcock
71 year old Barbara A. (Bobbie) Adcock of Centralia, Illinois passed away Sunday at Fireside House Centralia. She was in the insurance business and a member of the Hebron Church of Christ in McMinnville. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Chris Perry will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hattie Mae Myers Simmons; her husband, David Harold Adcock, and a son, David Harold Adcock, Jr. Survivors include a son, Steven and Janice Adcock of Franklin. Four grandchildren, Erin and Tate Moore, Shelby Adcock of Franklin, and Jamie and Clay Adcock of Cookeville. A sister, Billie Jo and Houston Hobbs of McMinnville. A niece Tina Duncan. A nephew, Kevin Duncan. Great niece, Jade Hobbs. Three great nephews, Jeffery and Jeremy Duncan and Chase White and great great nephew, Brentlee Hobbs all of McMinnville. Major Dillard Holt
Mr. Major Dillard Holt age 81 of McMinnville, TN, died Sunday, July 09, 2017, at Signature Health Care in Monteagle, TN. He was born May 10, 1936, in Morrison, TN, and was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Mary Belle Gann Holt, a daughter Deloris Betteley, a son Steve Holt, and fourteen siblings.
Survivors include his wife Willie Holt, his children Linda Hanzel, and Tim Holt, step-daughter Denice McCormick, step-son Raymond Lawson, grandchildren Rhiannon Betteley, Patrick Betteley, Robbie Hanzel, and Jessica Glaser, Dana West, and Ryan Adcock, great-grandchildren Sadie West, Shelby West, and Chloe Adcock, sisters Rosie (J.C.) Bouldin and Earlene Vickers, a brother Rayburn (Martha) Holt, and daughters-in-law Ronnie Holt and Joyce Lawson.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jason Nunley will officiate. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery in DeKalb County, TN. The Holt Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

Bobby Glen Hall age 51 of Dowelltown passed away Friday evening, July 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 21, 1965 in Nashville. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard R. Hall. Bobby was a Christian and a spot welder at Star Manufacturing. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lisa Shoemake Hall of Dowelltown; 2 children, Ashley Shoemake of Dowelltown and Travis (Veronica) Hall of Dowelltown; 1 granddaughter, Caitlin Shoemake; 1 sister-in-law, Lynn (Keith) Baker of Missouri and 1 brother-in-law, Johnny (Jackie) Shoemake of Alexandria. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tim Pack officiating and burial to follow in Brush Creek Cemetery. Richard “Richie” Herman
51 year old Richard “Richie” Herman of Liberty passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Murfreesboro in a train accident. He was a roofer and a Christian. He was born November 1, 1966 in Detroit, Michigan. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Bill and Elsie Krimm and maternal grandparents Alvie and Lawanda Herman. Brother, Jimmy Williamson and uncle Melvin Daniel. He is survived by his parents, Sam Herman of Liberty and Dotty Williamson of Detroit. Daughters, Anna and Steven Tarango of Victorville, California and Halana Turner of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Grandsons, Henry and Steven, Jr. Tarango of Victorville, California. Sisters, Cindy Goad of Liberty, Michelle Hickman of Michigan. Aunt, Judy Daniel of Smithville and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Direct cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be July 9, 2017 at Mt. Moriah The Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m.
Billie Sue Parker
87 year old Billie Sue Parker of Smithville died Thursday, July 6 at NHC Place Sumner in Gallatin. She was born in DeKalb County to the late Othel Claxton and Velma Hendrixson Farler and is also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth T. Parker. She was a life long member of the Snow Hill United Methodist Church. She served on the board and was treasurer of the Snow Hill Methodist Cemetery and Commissioner at the Smithville Housing Authority and an alumnus of the Liberty High School. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Doris Parker of Gallatin and extended family, cherished friends and neighbors, and her church family. The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Snow Hill United Methodist Church. Royce Martin will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Russell Evans Cantrell
95 year old Russell Evans Cantrell of Smithville passed away Thursday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church, and a retired Supervisor for General Motors. He worked twelve years for Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief and Amateur Radio. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mark Bass and Freddy Curtis will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1-2 p.m. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Green Cantrell and Elizabeth Evans Cantrell and brothers, Alfred and Gerald Cantrell. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Billye Ferrell Cantrell of Smithville. A daughter, Vivian and Walt Stock of Smithville. Grandchildren, AmyBeth and Randy McBride of Maryville, Jennifer and Brian Ledbetter of Cookeville, Stephen and Jamie Stock of Franklin, and Marilynn and Michael Mitchell of Murfreesboro.
