Violet Marie Fuson

91 year old Violet Marie Fuson of Smithville died Friday night at her residence. She was a retired Director of Pharmacy at St. Thomas Hospital where she served for 30 years. She was also active with the American Cancer Society, United Methodist Women, and the Eastern Star. The funeral will be Monday at 4:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Pillar United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Royce Martin will officiate. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and Monday from noon until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Pillar United Methodist Church. Fuson was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Leonidas and Allie Pearl Redmon Fuson. Two sisters, Peggy Fuson Palmer and Eulalia Annebell Fuson Cobb Vaughn. Survivors include seven nephews, Carlee Conway Cobb of Redwood City, California; Luther Fuson Cobb of Arcata, California; Lewis Latane Cobb of Jackson, Tennessee; James Edward Cobb of Salt Lake City, Utah; David Redmon Cobb of Indianapolis, Indiana; John Winston Cobb of Knoxville, and John Anderson Palmer III of Gainesville, Florida. One niece, Janna Marie Palmer Reid of Santa Clara, California. Ninteen great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces and nephews survive. Hobert Linnear, Sr.

82 year old Hobert Linnear, Sr. of Watertown died Tuesday at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Born in Wilson County, he was a farmer. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home at Watertown. Charlie Lawson will officiate and burial will be in the Jennings Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Linnear was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Tittle Linnear; a son, Hobert Linnear, Jr.; his parents, Claude and Nora Frances Lanier; a sister, Mary Tarpley; and brothers, David and James Lanier. Survivors include daughters, Ruth Ann and husband Charlie Lawson of Smithville and Brenda and husband J.R. Estes Linnear of Brush Creek. Twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren. Elizabeth Juanita Argue

90 year old Elizabeth Juanita Argue of Roseville, Michigan died Friday, January 27 in Michigan. She was born in New Middleton, the daughter of the late Adron and Bessie Vaden Hickey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leonard Argue; a daughter, Manetta M. Argue-Raab, and brothers, David A. Hickey, Jr. and James Ray Hickey. Survivors include a sister, Frances Garrison of Alexandria and granddaughter, Elizabeth Gersabeck and her husband Greg of Michigan. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Alexandria United Methodist Church with Pastor Betty Proctor-Bjorgo officiating. Burial will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery. Fowler “Stoney” Ramsey

45 year old Fowler “Stoney” Ramsey of Smithville died Tuesday at his residence. He worked in the past as a welder at Tenneco Automotive. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Al Mahan will officiate and burial will be in the Boma Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Ramsey was preceded in death by his parents, Fowler and Anna Bell Ramsey; a son, Barry Lee Stone Ramsey; and a sister, Kathy Marie Bilbrey. Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Lynn Madwell and a grandchild, Larissa Page both of Baxter. A sister, Janie and husband Ricky Fults of Liberty. Faithful companion, Samanda Armour of Smithville. Two nieces, Virginia and husband Robert Oaks of Centertown and Michaela Murphy and Cody Bilbrey of Smithville. Two nephews, Brandon Maynard and Jessica Brown of Brush Creek and Wesley Fults and Shannon Stembridge of Liberty. Close friend, Terry Maynard of Nashville. Four great nephews and two great nieces. Mellisa Boren Lassiter

45 year old Mellisa Boren Lassiter of McMinnville died Monday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a homemaker. A graveside service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount View Cemetery in McMinnville. No visitation will be held at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her father, George Boren. Survivors include her children, Crystal Holland and Jonathan Cantrell of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Jasmine, Abigail, and Angel Holland, Jaiden and Isabella Cantrell; her mother, Judy Boren of McMinnville. Brothers, Marcus and Greg Boren and a sister, Susan Lehman. Landon Maxray Myers-Gomar

Landon Maxray Myers-Gomar, the infant son of Courtney Myers and Austin Gomar of McMinnville, was born and died Friday at Vanderbilt Medical Center. The family attended the New Beginnings Church as well as the Centertown Methodist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mike Satterfield and Michael Hillis will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Centertown. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. The child was preceded in death by great grandparents, Willie Mae and Chester Myers and Billy Elliott and great great grandfather, Hoyte Leon Neal. In addition to the parents, the child is survived by grandparents, Bobby and wife Misty Myers, Bobby and wife Monica Davenport and Tony Brakeall all of McMinnville. Great grandparents, Norma Neal of Smithville and Herbert and wife Brenda Hobbs of McMinnville. Great great grandmother, Evie Sue Walker of Smithville. L.C. Vandergriff

92 year old L.C. Vandergriff of Watertown died Friday at his residence. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran and Prisoner of War, a carpenter, and and a member of the Watertown First United Methodist Church. He was born in DeKalb County. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home. Rodger McCann will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lessie Vandergriff and Mary Elizabeth Norton Vandergriff; sisters, Mary Barrett and Gertie Keaton; and a brother, Floyd Vandergriff. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Louise Ellis Vandergriff of Watertown. A niece, Betty and her husband Gary Mullican of Lebanon. A nephew, Gene Vandergriff of Nashville. A great nephew, Donald and wife Cynthia Mullican of Lebanon. Two great great nephews, Jonathan and Matthew Mullican. Sisters-in-Law, Effie Lee Ellis of Smithville and Flora Ellis of Smyrna. Joseph Charles Edge

76 year old Joseph Charles Edge of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Highway Superintendent. The family has chosen direct cremation. There will be no visitation or services held. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Caroline Edge; his wife, Grace Edge; and a son, Patrick Michael Edge. Survivors include his children, Shaun Edge, Carey Edge Teeters and Donnie Edge. Grandchildren, Hannah George, Rebecca, Joseph M., Alexis, Jeremy, James, Kevin, Amy, Curtis, and Daniel Edge. Mary D. Taylor

55 year old Mary D. Taylor of Smithville died Monday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Frank Bratcher will officiate and burial will be in the Adcock Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Katie Katherine Martin O’Neal; husband, Steve Taylor; two brothers, Arthur W. and Thomas O’Neal; and two sisters, Billy Seiber and Cynthia Hale. Survivors include a son, Joe Seiber of Dixson. One sister, Lallie and husband Buddy Wilkerson of Savannah, Tennessee. One special great niece, Olivia Hale of Smithville. Six nephews, five nieces, five great nieces, five great nephews, and close friends, Jimmy and Denise Duncan also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lily Pauline Nixon Foutch

97 year old Lily Pauline Nixon Foutch of Alexandria died Monday at Dekalb Community Hospital.
Mrs. Foutch was born March 20, 1915 in Hickman, TN the daughter of the late Thomas Pirl Nixon and Eltie Etta Foutch. She was also preceded in death by a Son; Daniel Martin Foutch on July 31, 1948 and Four Siblings; George Nixon, Billy Finis Nixon, Virginia Jim Starnes, and Henry Ellis. She married John Donald Foutch on October 19, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1993. She worked at Dupont before marriage and then at Alexandria Garment until her retirement in 1971. She was a member of the Malone’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Foutch is survived by her Son; John David (Joyce Ann) Foutch of Alexandria, TN. Granddaughter; Jennifer Elaine (Eric) Foutch-Hoegland of Murfreesboro, TN. Grandson; Daniel Ryan Foutch of Alexandria, TN
Funeral Services for Mrs. Foutch are scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 2 PM at Avant Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Gay and Bro. Dewey Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.
Visitation with the Foutch family will be at Avant Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 AM until 9PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until service time at 2 PM.
