Kanzada Summers

87 year old Kanzada Summers of Dowelltown died Sunday at her daughter’s residence. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Pedigo-Summers Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Agnes Buckner Pedigo; her husband, John Lee Summers; two sons, Gordon and Albert Lee Summers; four brothers, Norval, Edd, and Aaron Lee and Elvee Vester Pedigo; and three sisters, Frances Bandy, Odell Summers, and Carrie Inez Pedigo. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Bailiff of Dowelltown and Jeanette Farris of Smithville. Three sons, Bobby and wife Sue Summers and Roger Summers all of Smithville, and Douglas and wife Kathy Summers of Liberty. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, and eleven great great grandchildren. A sister, Lorene and husband Wilburn Chastine of Winchester. Billy Organ

Funeral services for 90 year old Billy Organ will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon. Kevin Medlin will officiate. Burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday after 11:00 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo.
Organ died Thursday at Southern Manor.
Born in Wilson County, Organ is the son of the late Charlie S. and Ruby Clemmons Organ. He was a 1940 graduate of Lebanon High School and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a mechanic for Eastern Airlines.. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Organ; brother, Wendell Organ, and a niece, Gayle L. King.
He is survived by a sister, Bessie L. Organ Atnip of Smithville; nephews, Charles D. And wife Betty Jo Atnip, John L. and wife Betty Jean Atnip all of Smithville, Richard and wife Carla King of Cookeville; niece, Phyllis and husband Ronnie Tramel of Smithville; several great nieces & nephews; special friend, Karen Krattinger of Lebanon.

Tammy Louise Hill

48 year old Tammy Louise Hill of McMinnville died Thursday at River Park Hospital of an extended illness. She was a Baptist and an employee of the Oster Corporation. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Jeff Hill will officiate and burial will be in the Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. Hill is survived by her mother, Ruth Jackson of Smithville. Father and step-mother, Ronald and Sue Hill of Smithville. Two brothers, Avery and wife Donna Hill and Jeff and wife Lisa Hill all of McMinnville. Special friend, Kathy Lee of McMinnville. Adrianna Leshay Murphy

Adrianna Leshay Murphy, newborn daughter of Justin Murphy and Crystal Thompson of Smithville, died Tuesday at UMC in Lebanon. A graveside service will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Everyone will meet at the graveside Thursday at 1:00 p.m. In addition to the parents, the infant is survived by three sisters, Tierra, Briana, and Kaley Parrent of Crossville. Three brothers, Justin Lynn Murphy, Jr., Zachary Murphy, and Keith Buck of Smithville. Grandparents, Billie Sanders and Luther and Penny Murphy; three uncles, Patrick Murphy, Bradley and Blake Sanders, and an aunt, Misty Cassity all of Smithville. Several cousins also survive. Gladys Ray Cope

91 year old Gladys Ray Cope of Smithville died Monday morning at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired machine operator at Kingston Timer, Order of the Eastern Star, and the New Union The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the New Union The Baptist Church. Darrell Cantrell and Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the New Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Cope was preceded in death by her two husbands, George E. Ray and Rayton Cope; parents, Ed Nichols and Mellie Fisher Chisam; two sisters, Hazel Chisam and Eula Cantrell and husband Atwood; and two great grandchildren, Zachary and Shelby Ray. Survivors include three children, Ernest and wife Elene Ray of Adams, Tennessee; Linda Ray and husband Puggy Cook of Alexandria; and Roy and wife Patsy Ray of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Melinda and husband Mark Miller of Liberty, Tina and husband Matt Gibson, and Ernie and wife Christin Cook all of Alexandria, Greg and wife Amanda Ray of Clarksville, Patrick and wife Dessa Ray, and Tracy and wife Donna Ray all of Smithville. Coy Smith Hillis

73 year old Coy Smith Hillis of McMinnville died Wednesday at Alive Hospice of St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Moose Lodge in McMinnville and a member of the VFW. Hillis was also a telephone factory worker. A graveside service will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Centertown. Michael Hale will officiate. No visitation will be held. Hillis was preceded in death by his father, Raymon Hillis and a brother, Arie Hillis. Survivors include two sons, Ron Hillis of Memphis and Ken Hillis of Wabash, Indiana. Two grandchildren. Bro. Bobby Colvert

79 year old Bro. Bobby Colvert of Dowelltown died Thursday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He served as an Evangelist/Minister for 50 years and he was an owner/operator of a local business in Smithville. Colvert was also a farmer. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Seminary. He later founded the Covenant Baptist Church in Smithville. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Thurman Seber, Richard Williams, and Bobby Thomason will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Colvert was preceded in death by his parents, Obadiah and Bessie Lee Bass Colvert; his wife, Barbara Colvert; and a brother, James Bass Colvert. Survivors include his children, John and wife Karen Colvert of Murfreesboro and Lou Ann and husband Steve White of Smithville. 76 year old Floyd Nokes of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC of Smithville. He was self-employed, a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Ricky Arnold will officiate and burial will be in the New Bildad Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Nokes was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Hallie Mai O’Conner Nokes; his wife, Ruby Nokes; five brothers, Walter, Johnny, Sam, Bill, and Bob Nokes; and a sister, Betty Bogle. Donald Sheets

92 year old Donald Sheets of Smithville died Wednesday at his residence. He was a retired Aircraft Engineer and a Catholic. Sheets was also a member of the American Legion and a World War II veteran, having served in the Army and Air Force. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Father David Cooney will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. with the Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and Monday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret Sheets. Survivors include his wife,Carolyn Sheets of Smithville. Six children, Margaret and husband John Boehnlein of Indiana, Jane and husband Jerry Allsop, Patricia and husband Carl Muia, and Donald J. and wife Sue Sheets all of South Bend, Indiana, Thomas J. Sheets of San Diego, California, and Laura and husband Bryan Vanlandingham of Granger, Indiana. Twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. One sister, Marjorie Baldini of Naples, Florida. Gary Dale Gibbs

56 year old Gary Dale Gibbs died Monday at his residence. He lived in Dowelltown but he spent most of his life in Smith County where he was raised. He was an assembler at Shiroki North America and was a member of the HAM radio operators. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Wilson Williams will officiate with burial in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Gibbs. He is survived by his wife Carol Cook Gibbs of Dowelltown; seven children, Robbie Strayn, Jennifer Bain, April Strayn Lee, all of Smithville; Shane, Dale and Tara Gibbs, all of Smith County, and Nathan Gibbs. Parents, Arlis and Louise Gibbs of Smith County. Two brothers, Farris and Roger Gibbs; three sisters, Teresa McMillian, Angie Henry, and Sandy Gibbs all of Smith County.
