91 year old Ethel Lee Crook of Lebanon died Friday at the Pavilion in Lebanon. She was born in DeKalb County and was a homemaker. She attended Liberty High School and was a member of the Prosperity Baptist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in the Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Crook; parents, Ace and Frances Adamson; and two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Paulette and husband James M. Gilley of Lebanon. Grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Valorie Gilley of Nashville, Diane and husband Lee Hudson of Lebanon, Randy and wife Adrienne Gilley of Lebanon, and Darrell and wife Dani Gilley of Lebanon. Virginia Ruth O’Neal Phillips

84 year old Virginia Ruth O’Neal Phillips of Auburntown died Friday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. She was born in Wilson County. She was also a retired employee of the Auburntown Bank, member of the Auburn Baptist Church, and a graduate of Watertown High School. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Auburn Baptist Church. Jerry Osborne will officiate and burial will be in the Odom Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.T. O’Neal and Magnus Phillips and her parents, Theodore and Elizabeth Armstrong. Survivors include a son, Lynn and his wife Cathy O’Neal of Auburntown. A daughter, Darnelle and husband Jim Brown of Liberty. Grandchildren and spouses, Tracy and Ravi Goins of Auburntown, Emily and Chris Crook of Liberty, Jason and Jennifer Brown of Auburntown, and Jeanna and Tracy Caplinger of Auburntown. 78 year old Mary Maglene Judkins of Smithville died Friday at Riverview Medical Center in Carthage. She was a retired CNA from a long term care facility and a member of the Keltonburg Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jaco-Judkins Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norval Lee Judkins, Sr.; parents, Homer and Eula Mae Driver; sister and brother, Joyce Marie Burgan and Frank Driver. Survivors include three daughters, Mary and Joe Mantz of McMinnville, Vicky Judkins of Smithville, and Loyce Judkins of Hickman. One son, Norville Lee Judkins, Jr. of Smithville. 87 year old James Austin Johnson of Smithville died Friday at his residence. He was retired from the Chrysler-Dodge Auto Company in Detroit, Michigan. He was a Mason. He served in the Navy during World War II, and he was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mark Bass will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. A Masonic service will be held on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Pearly Bratcher Johnson; four brothers, Lloyd, Repsey, Raston, and Haskel Johnson; seven sisters, Ora Lawson, Ruby Wright, Mandy Wright, Addis Johnson, Perlene Colwell, Claudia Johnson, and Billie Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Georgia Fuson Johnson of Smithville. Two sisters, June and husband Deter Keller of Florida and Margarie Stephens of Texas. 69 year old James “Jim” Wray of Smithville died Wednesday at his residence. He served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Army, government, and construction. The family has chosen direct cremation. Wray was preceded in death by his father, Fred Hamilton Wray. Survivors include two children, Crystal Wray of Smithville and Jennifer DeGraff of California. Four grandchildren, Victoria, Maegan, and Eric DeGraff, and Marley Wray. Companion, Lacy Mary Jones of Smithville. Mother, Mary Gladys Wray of Signal Mountain. 45 year old Lisa Diane Ferrell of Smithville died Monday at Centennial Medical Center. She was a member of the Church of God, a mother, and a homemaker. 90 year old Alta Washer Fitts Payne of Alexandria died Saturday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. She was born on Walkers Creek, the daughter of the late Haley Taylor and Grover Washer. She worked for many years at the Alexandria Shirt Company and retired from Hartmann Luggage Company. She was a member of the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ben Simpson will officiate and burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, John T. Washer, James W. Washer, William L, Washer, Frances Hunt, Christine Bragg, and Elizabeth Christian. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ruby G. Fitts in 1967. She later married Charles Payne and he preceded her in death in 2003. A son, James. T. Fitts preceded her in death in 1995. She is survived by six children, Joe G. and wife Lucille Fitts of Temperance Hall, Stephen and wife Jona Fitts of Brush Creek, Mary Ray of Brush Creek, Patricia and husband Buddy Bain of Alexandria, Brenda Wooden of Alexandria, and Barbara and husband Tommy Ray of Gordonsville. 87 year old Delcie Mae Ervin died Saturday at her daughter’s residence. She was born in DeKalb County and a homemaker. She was also a member of the Pentecostal faith. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic. Ricky Mitchell, David Snowden, and Alfred Basham will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery in McMinnville. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lee and Etter Green Bain; husband, Robert Ervin; children, Geneva McClellan, Arthur Ervin, Peggy Adamson, and Margaret Smith; a grandson, Douglas Smith; brothers and sisters, Hurbert Bain, Bobby Bain, Rubin Bain, Lonnie Bain, and Minnie Farless. Survivors include children and their spouses, Paul Ervin of McMinnville, Emma Jean and Carl Poss of McMinnville, Janet Neal of Smithville, and Linda and Tony Fults of McMinnville. 76 year old Hoyte Cantrell of Smithville died Sunday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a farmer. The family has chosen cremation. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mattie Adcock Cantrell; brothers, Gene Cantrell, Carl Cantrell, John Cantrell, and Joseph Cantrell; and sisters, Katy Cantrell, Josie Shehane, and Macon Haas. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Eddie Young of Smithville; Sister-in-law, Faye Cantrell of Smithville; special niece, Melba Vinca of Smithville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Eugene Haley will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Howard and Margie Rae Gibbs Reynolds. Survivors include her husband, Shirley Austin Pascal of Smithville. Four children, Patricia Ann Taylor and Joe David Taylor of Wilson County, Brenda Sue Tucker Napier of Smithville, and William Edward Taylor of Kentucky.
