Sam A. Love

93 year old Sam A. Love, a former DeKalb County Clerk and Master, died Tuesday at NHC of Smithville. He was a retired insurance agent and a retired U.S. Navy veteran from World War II. He was also a member of the Church of Christ. Love served as Clerk and Master from 1955 to 1982. He was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Rhea Foster Love; a son, Sam Morgan Love; parents, Morgan and Janie Puckett Love; and a brother, Frank Love. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tommy Webb and Tim Woodward will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He is survived by a cousin, Robert Shelby Love of McMinnville and devoted caregiver, Debra Robinson of Smithville. Brenda Gail Thomas Stanley

58 year old Brenda Gail Thomas Stanley of Smithville died Monday at St. Thomas Hospital. She was a Baptist. A graveside service will be Tuesday at noon at Whorton Springs Cemetery. B.J. Thomason and Randy Smith will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at which time the family will depart for the cemetery for the graveside service at noon. Stanley was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Thomas and mother and step-father, Jessie and Ceasar Dunn. Survivors include sons, Benjamin and wife Marie Pascal of McMinnville and Danny Smithson of Smithville. Eleven grandchildren. Two sisters, Sue Patterson of Smithville and Donna DeVeil of McMinnville. Clara Nell Cantrell

85 year old Clara Nell Cantrell of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. Cantrell was a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church and she worked at Wright’s Grocery and Fuston’s 5 &10. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale, Mike Neal, and Dick Scott-Welch will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Cantrell was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Della Miller Cantrell; brothers and sisters, James T. Cantrell, Fred Cantrell, Aubrey Cantrell, Frank “Chick” Cantrell, Cartie Patton, Mattie Lee Stoner, Lela Mae Rigsby, Shelby Cripps, and Helen Cantrell. Survivors include a sister, Jean Haley of Smithville. Nieces, Jane and husband J.E. Young of Smyrna, Billie and husband Billy Roy Judkins of Donelson, and Jean Patton of Smithville. Nephews, Phillip Stoner and Eugene and wife Diane Haley all of Smithville. Several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews also survive. Barbara Ann Baker Colvert

76 year old Barbara Ann Baker Colvert of Dowelltown died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was one of the founding members of Covenant Baptist Church. Colvert was a member of the Sparta and Smithville Senior Yoga Clubs. She attended the Cassville School and graduated from Sparta High School. She then attended Middle Tennessee State University earning a Masters Degree in Education. Colvert was a retired teacher and was a partner in Basement Sales. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with Thurman Seber officiating. Entombment will be at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Landreth and Velma Louise Hill Baker. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Bobby Colvert of Dowelltown. Two children, John and wife Karen Colvert of Murfreesboro and Lou Ann and husband Steve White of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Kelly Colvert and Matt Wiley, Jason Baker Colvert, and Grant Ian Colvert all of Murfreesboro; Camry Lou Colvert White, Carlee Colvert White, and Chloe Colvert White all of Smithville. Three great grandchildren, Kaylin Colvert Wiley, Lyla Dawn Wiley, and Piper Ann Wiley all of Murfreesboro. Three brothers and sisters, Betty Herndon of Smithville, Bill Baker of Cassville, and Mary Louise Fitzgerald of Lafayette. Special friend, Glenda Griffin and family of Dowelltown. Roy Wade Scott

58 year old Roy Wade Scott of Alexandria died Wednesday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He was born in Cannon County. He was also a farmer. The funeral will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ronnie Smith will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Wade; his parents, Hiram Fred Scott and Sylvia Rogers Scott; and brothers, James Wiley Scott and Billy Scott. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Ruby Gibbs Scott of Alexandria. Children, Dorothy Richardson of Murfreesboro, Emily Scott of Smithville, Andy Scott of Smithville, Misty Bowman of Cookeville, and Tonya Vanness of Baxter. Ezzie Lee Hutchings Hendrixson

81 year old Ezzie Lee Hutchings Hendrixson of Smithville died Saturday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a Baptist, a homemaker, a gardener, and an oil painter. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mike Carpenter and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in Mount Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orby Lee Hutchings and Flora Hutchings Pruitt and five brothers. She is survived by her husband, T.J. Hendrixson of Smithville. A daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Hendrixson Culver and Robert Culver, Jr. of Michigan. Grandchildren, Rebecca Culver Meyn and Robert Culver, III both of Michigan. Great grandchild, Emma Grace Meyn of Michigan. An aunt, Ethel Waggoner. 81 year old Jean Cooper of Murfreesboro died Friday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of DeKalb County but lived most of her life in Rutherford County. She was a member of New Vision Baptist Church, and a homemaker
Cooper was preceded in death by her parents, Ewin Pack and Sally Mai Smithson Pack; husband, Jack Cooper; daughter, Deborah Lynn Miller; son, Rudy V. Miller; and brother, Auburn Pack. She is survived by her son, Russ Donivan Miller of Murfreesboro; daughter, Sherry Holsted of Murfreesboro; brother, Buford Allen Pack; three grandchildren, Kathy Cantrell, Valerie Lewis and Adam Holsted; six great-grandchildren, Lydia Saunders, Jackson Lewis, Parker Lewis, Simon Lewis, Sophie Holsted, Max Holsted; and one great-great-grandchild, Bentlee Saunders.
A chapel service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at Jennings and Ayers Chapel in Murfreesboro. Phillip Robinson and David Goins will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens

Frank Andrew Judkins

78 year old Frank Andrew Judkins of McMinnville died Friday at his residence. He was a Baptist. He worked in construction, was employed at Carrier, and was a farmer. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in Cantrell Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Judkins was preceded in death by his parents, Hershell and Martha Harriet Martin Judkins; children, Bruce Windell Ellis, Kathy Diane Judkins, and Margaret Ann Judkins; a brother, Jessie Haston Judkins; and a sister, Betty Judkins. He is survived by his wife, Edna Frances Judkins of McMinnville. Children, Joyce Ann Judkins of Smithville, Alvin Glenn Judkins of Smithville, Frankie June Rice of Dibrell, and Michael Andrew Judkins of Smithville. Bobby Charles Mason

72 year old Bobby Charles Mason of Dowelltown died Thursday of an extended illness at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. He was a retired educator for the Warren County School System and a member of the Assembly of God Church.The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Donnie Kelly will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Hall and Vassie Lee Warren Mason. He is survived by his wife, Louise Green Mason of Dowelltown. Three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Charles Collier of Rock Island, Judy and Troy Thomas of Smithville, and Michelle and Scott King of Smithville. A son and daughter-in-law, Jim and April Mason of Smithville. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive. High Funeral Home in McMinnville is in charge of the arrangements.

Jimmy Lee Thomason

77 year old Jimmy Lee Thomason of Nashville died Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was a Methodist and had been a truck driver for 36 years. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Lola Hunt Thomason; a son, Jimmy Wade Thomason; a granddaughter, Paula Jo Young; three brothers, Willie Wade Thomason, Jr.; John Thomason, and Tom Thomason; and two sisters, Ruby Ensley and Fannie Catherine Thomason. Survivors include his wife, Arlene Thomason of Nashville; children, Carolyn Farrar of Murfreesboro, Gail Thomason of Smyrna, Janey and husband Larry Dickens of Smithville, Steve and wife Kathy Thomason of McMinnville, and Tony and wife Renee Thomason of Lebanon.
