James Edward Carroll

49 year old James Edward Carroll of Smithville died Sunday at his residence. He was a custodian at DeKalb County High School and he attended the New Life United Pentecostal Church. The service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery. Michael Hale and Dwayne Cornelius will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward L. Carroll. Survivors include two children, Jamie Carroll of Smithville and Candice Carroll of McMinnville. Five grandchildren. His mother, Frankie Carroll of Smithville. A brother, Steven Carroll of Smithville. Ione Ellis

86 year old Ione Ellis of Dowelltown died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church and performed housekeeping services at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Junior Hibdon and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Callie Bain Hendrixson; daughter, Rhea Nell Spencer; and a brother, Chester Hendrixson. Rex Ray Redmon

68 year old Rex Ray Redmon of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist and a Carrier employee. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leeta Hawkins Redmon; his parents, Hershel and Ammie Sue Barkes Redmon; two brothers, Ralph and Lewis Redmon; six sisters, Mammie Driver, Mary Redmon, Ella Mae Jones, Ravanell Redmon, Beulah Caldwell, and Sadie Pearl Sandlin. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Marie and James Tallas Cantrell of Smithville. A granddaughter, Talisa Marie Cantrell of Smithville. Emma Jean Arnold

68 year old Emma Jean Arnold of Smithville died Sunday at her residence. She was a retired shirt factory worker and a member of the New Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lee and Gracie Lorene Arnold and two brothers, Jimmy and Clovis Arnold. Survivors include a niece, Ronda and husband Tim Young and a sister-in-law, Sue Arnold all of Smithville. Several cousins and friends also survive. Richard “Tom” Miller

58 year old Richard “Tom” Miller of Smithville died Saturday at Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale and Jeffrey Miller will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the service at 7:00 p.m. Miller was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Earleen Miller. Tom was a graduate of Putnam County Senior High School in 1971, a three year letterman of the football team, serving as Captain his Senior year and was named Mr. Cavalier. Miller received a B.S. degree in Business Management from Tennessee Tech University in 1976. He attended the Tennessee School of Banking in 1979, LSU School of Banking of the South in 1983, School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado in 1985, and the Graduate School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado in 1986. He was employed by Citizens Bank of Cookeville from June 1974 to June 1987 where he advanced from teller to a Vice President. From November 1988 to November 1996, he was employed by DeKalb County Bank/Union Planters Bank where he became a Vice President. Miller was founder and owner of DeKalb Finance in Smithville from January 1997 to May 1999. He was also employed by Liberty State Bank in July 1999 where he became a Vice President. Miller is survived by his wife, Gail Miller of Smithville. A daughter, Jessica Miller of Atlanta, Georgia. A son, Jeffrey Miller of Cookeville. Step-sons, Billy and wife Linda Zaderiko of Smithville and Jess Zaderiko of Florida. A step-daughter, January and her husband Josh Agee of Liberty. Grandchildren, Zach Odom, Devin Zaderiko, Josh Zaderiko, Kennedy Agee, Jaxon Zaderiko, and James Zaderiko. His father, Charles R. Miller of Cookeville. Brothers, Charles M. and wife Lynne Miller of Knoxville and Robert L. and wife Judy Miller of Cookeville. A sister, Lynda A. Miller of Nashville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 74 year old Patty Trusty of Nashville died Friday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale and Mike Fuson will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Martin and Novie Mason Taylor; her husband Hoyt Trusty; three sisters, Carnell Keith, Elizabeth Young, and Jo Parton; and three brothers, James, Solon, and Albert Taylor. Survivors include children, David and wife Sherry Trusty of Kingston Springs, Roger and wife Janet Trusty of Goodlettsville, Karen and husband Arnold Smith of Nashville, Diane Reese of Greenbrier, Marty Trusty of Nashville, and Pamela and husband Tim Craig of Joelton. 61 year old Jimmy Hullett of Dowelltown died Thursday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was a self- employed painter and a member of the Brush Creek United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Floyd Massey will officiate and burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:30 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Roy and Mary Cassie Davenport Hullett; a grandson, Jimmy Lee Gibbs; brothers, Mack and Alton Hullett; and a sister, Ailene Farless. Survivors include his wife Alice Hullett of Dowelltown. Two children, Lisa Fayen Gibbs and Jimmy Dwayne and wife Debbie Hullett both of Dowelltown. A grandchild, Amanda Gibbs of Liberty. Morris Lee Puckett

75 year old Morris Lee Puckett of Sparta died Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the Church of God, a U.S. Army veteran, and he worked in a garment factory. The funeral will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Donnie Kelly and Chad Bagley will officiate and burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery in Cassville. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Casto and Josie Staley Puckett and his wife, Mary Donavee Harris Puckett. Survivors include two daughters, Nena LeaAnn and husband Dan Daily of Kansas City, Kansas and Tina Puckett of Sparta. Grandchildren, Aaron Puckett, Kaitlyn Daily, and Samuel Daily. Louise “Mama Lou” Christian Frazier

85 year old Louise “Mama Lou” Christian Frazier of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Pentecost and a floor supervisor in a factory. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Charles Braswell and Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Alpha Cripps Bain; her first husband, Carlon Christian; brothers, Samuel, Charles, Creston, and Boyd Bain; mother and father-in-law, Hobert and Beulah Christian; step-daughter, Margaret Pack; and a step-son Eddie B. Frazier. Survivors include her husband, Edsel Frazier of Smithville. A daughter, Linda Stone of Cookeville.
