James C. “Jim” Fields

76 year old James C. “Jim” Fields of New Hope Road, Alexandria died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was born in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the son of Phoebe Adkins Fields and the late Nelson Fields. Three brothers, Delmer, Howard, and Richard Fields preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1974. He was married to Jeanette Ellis, who also preceded him in death. Fields was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Matthew Long will officiate and burial will follow with military honors at the Pisgah Cemetery. The Fields family will receive friends at Avant Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Fields is survived by his mother, Phoebe Fields of Whitesburg, Kentucky. Seven grandchildren, Clint and wife Deddie Johnson, Lance and wife Courtney Dillard, Brooke Bogle, Peyton Harper, Brittany and husband Andy Sanders, Ryan Temple, and Karen Mumphrey. Eight great grandchildren, Ellie, Davis, Emily, Zach, Dana, Andrew, Nathaniel, and Christopher. Five brothers, Ralph and wife Donna Fields, Orell and wife Laura Fields, Rex and wife Tilda Fields, Dean and wife Kathy Fields, and Gary Fields. Eight sisters, Katherine and husband Merle Haskins, Evelyn Cosgrif, Juanita and husband Curtis Caudill, Janet and husband Johnny Napier, Ella Mae and husband Mark Caudill, Helen and husband Danny Roberts, Libby and husband Johnny Honeycutt, and Lisa and husband David Howard. Rosie Maxine Driver

80 year old Rosie Maxine Driver of Warren County died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gath Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Darrell Cantrell will officiate and burial will be in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Nora Elizabeth Ferrell Arnold; husband, Robert V. Gene Driver; daughter, Joye Rose Driver; three brothers, Brown, Landon, and Warren Arnold; and a sister, Ruth Hendrix. Survivors include five daughters, Peggy McClain of Woodbury, Doris Driver of Rock Island, Pat and husband Phillip Pelham of McMinnville, Jewel and husband Darrell Kirby of Smithville, and Debbie and husband Jeff Scurlock of Smithville. Billy Robinson

76 year old Brother Billy Robinson died Monday. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon. Chris Dickens and Gordon Lee will officiate and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will be receive friends at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the service on Wednesday. Robinson was a graduate of Watertown High School and he attended Tennessee Technological University. He was a retired Baptist minister who began preaching at age 19. During his 55 years of ministry, he pastored the following churches: Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Upper Helton Baptist Church, Pleasant View Baptist Church, Forrest Park Baptist Church, Welchland Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, and Friendship Baptist Church. He was also retired from Sherwin-Williams and the City of Lebanon Water Department and was actively involved in the City of Lebanon retiree group. Survivors include his wife of fifty-five and a half years, Robbie Cope Robinson; daughter: Jan Robinson Barwin; granddaughter: Reca Danielle Barwin; sisters-in-law: Opal and her husband Dean Pirtle, Nina and husband Jimmy Gentry, and Linda and husband Edward Calvert; brothers-in-law: Aaron and wife Joyce Cope and Darrell Dean; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Mary Frances Dyer

82 year old Mary Frances Dyer of Murfreesboro died Tuesday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. She was a member of the Bible Church of Jesus, a Sunday school teacher, and she served as a church secretary and did hospital visitation. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. John Tipton, Johnny Turner, and Terry Chapman will officiate and burial will be in the Coleman Cemetery. Derrick Ray Johnson-Mashburn

Derrick Ray Johnson-Mashburn, the newborn son of Fairy Johnson and Ray Mashburn, died Tuesday, August 9 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at noon at the home of his parents at 107 Circle Drive, Dowelltown. Burial will be in the Hale Cemetery. The child was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marvin Pittard; grandmother, Joann Mashburn; great grandparents, Earnest Mashburn, Ed Johnson, and Luree Johnson. In addition to the parents, the child is survived by brothers and sisters, Brian and Christopher Johnson, Alyssa Mashburn, and twin brother Erick Mashburn all of Dowelltown and Noel Mashburn of Kansas. 71 year old David Lynn Bouldin of McMinnville died Wednesday of an extended illness at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was a retired employee of the McMinnville Screw Machine and a member of the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith. 56 year old Ricky Byron Fitts of Smithville died Tueday at his residence. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and in Masonry. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. 68 year old Kenneth Randolph Hayes of McMinnville died Friday at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was a retired truck driver with Airco Gas Company and a nurseryman. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. David Mahan will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 62 year old John Aubrey Gunter died Tuesday at Vanderbilt Hospital from injuries sustained in a recent truck accident. He was a resident of Cannon County, a member of the Smithville Church of God, and a self-employed Heavy Equipment Operator.
