Kenneth A. Jones

59 year old Kenneth A. Jones of McMinnville died Sunday at his residence. He was born in Warren County, was a network operations switchman with Ben Lomand Telephone Co-Op, a U.S. Army Veteran, Ham Radio Operator, and a member of First Baptist Church. Jones was preceded in death by his parents Clayton Arvell and Mary Katherine Childers Jones, and a sister Judy Woodlee.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years Doris Jones, their children Tim and wife Gretchen Jones, Chelsie Young, grandchildren Preston and Grace Young, brother Curtis and wife Reba Jones, all of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.. John May and Bo Hendrix will officiate. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery. Military grave rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and V.F.W. Post 5064. The Jones Family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again Thursday from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.

Robert Trautwein

86 year old Robert Trautwein of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a pattern maker. The family has chosen direct cremation. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louisa Trautwein and a sister, Dorlie Isaac. Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Meyer of Smithville. Two sons, Robert Trautwein, Jr. of California and Marcel Trautwein of Wisconsin. Four grandchildren, Lisa, Jason, Xavier, and Vontasir. A sister, Lilli Gunsch and many other relatives in Switzerland also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth P. Garrett

77 year old Kenneth P. Garrett of the Short Mountain Community died Thursday. Born in Cumberland County Kentucky, Garrett worked as an RN for more than twenty years. He also served as a Cannon County Farm Bureau board of director, a Cannon County Commissioner, Cannon County School Board member, school board chairman, and he was a Sunday School Superintendent/Lay Leader of the Short Mountain Methodist Church at Half Acre for more than thirty five years. Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie John Garrett and Mary Effie Pierce Garrett; siblings Virgil, Verdie Ellen, Thomas Hershel, Clara Edith, and Manual Odell. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Royce Martin and Gerald Melton will officiate and burial will follow in the Melton Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Garrett is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sara Marie Hale Garrett. Daughters, Marcia Ann and husband Gerald Melton and Melanie Sue and husband Frank Nistad. Grandsons, Matthew and wife Laura Daniel, Caleb Daniel, Skylar Daniel and granddaughter, Tylee Xian Marie Nistad. He is also survived by a brother, J.E. Garrett of the Short Mountain Community. Carl Odell Teachman

85 year old Carl Odell Teachman of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. Teachman was born in Salt Fork, Oklahoma, the son of the late Edward H. and Neva Cowen Teachman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he worked as an assembly/manufacturing operator for Boeing Aircraft. Teachman was a Shriner, a 50 year member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge Sunflower Lodge 86 F&AM. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas. Survivors include two sons, Michael Wayne Teachman of Smithville and Joel Teachman of Kansas. Two brothers, Edward Teachman, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Douglas Teachman and wife Barbara of Blanchard, Oklahoma. Three sisters, Wanda Gard and husband Darwin of Smithville, Twylah Almeda and husband Bob of Hayward, California, and Edrie Zwiers of Wichita, Kansas. Two grandchildren, Tobey and Jerimiah. Two sisters-in-law, Jean Teachman of Arizona and Bertha Teachman of Haysville, Kansas. Special friends, Tom and Barbara Meadows. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, Teachman was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Teachman; four brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Blaine, and George; and three sisters, Geneva, Kelly, and Lora Jane. Ruby Elizabeth Smithson

97 year old Ruby Elizabeth Smithson of Smithville died Tuesday at her residence. She was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church, a member of the Red Hat Society and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a nurse. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bobby Thomason and Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Smithson was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon Bruce Smithson; a son, Doris Allison Smithson; parents, Robert Lee and Hassie Pearl Hubbard Frazier; and a brother, James Frazier. Survivors include brothers, Edward and wife Frances Frazier and Edsel and wife Louise Frazier all of Smithville. Sister-in-law, Adalene Frazier of Sparta. Corey Duane Paul

35 year old Corey Duane Paul of Nashville died Friday. He was a Baptist, self-employed, and he served in the U.S. Army. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery in Cassville. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his father, Ricky D. Paul; grandparents, Claude R. Paul and Marie Williamson Paul, and Mary M. Miller; and an uncle, Michael D. Paul. Survivors include three daughters, Cheyenne Paul and Cierra Paul both of Morgan Utah and Breanna Paul of Algood. Parents, Sherry and Joe Knight of Gainesboro. Maternal grandparents, Richard and Julia Eschenbach of California. Sister and brothers, Anna M. Goodwin of Smithville, Ricky D. Paul of Livingston, Bobby J. Knight and Nathan E. Reba Oleda Tubb

91 year old Reba Oleda Tubb of Michigan died Saturday. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Tubb; a grandchild, Robin Tubb; her parents, Riley Elbert and Sarah Lee Taylor Spencer; and a sister, Ruby Spencer Oakley. Survivors include children, Sue and her husband Bob Harper, Howard Tubb, Jack and wife Kaye Tubb, and Thomas Tubb. Grandchildren, Jack Harper, Richard Tubb, Rene Collins, Darly Tubb, Sherry Reggio, and Tara Tubb. Seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a sister, Jean Love. E.H. “Denny” Denman, Jr

83 year old E.H. “Denny” Denman, Jr. of Smithville died Wednesday at the Webb House. He was a retired minister and a Cumberland Presbyterian. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Green and Ronnie Pittenger will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Denman was preceded in death by his parents, E.H., Sr. and Lela Cox Denman. Survivors include his wife, Susie Denman of Smithville. Two daughters, Susie Denman and husband Gerald Elliott of Murfreesboro and Debbie Denman and husband Brice Reynolds of Knoxville. A son, Bud and wife Gina Denman of Riverwatch. Six grandchildren, Kris and wife Holly White, Ryan and wife Jan White, Joey Petty, Catherine and husband John Wiesehan, Madison Denman, and Payne Denman. Seven great grandchildren. Five sisters, Carolyn Leonard of Winchester, Mary Hankins of Nashville, Rachel Denman of Atlanta, Roselyn Witherspoon of Austin, Texas, and Kay and husband Don Payne of Greenville. Charlotte Louise Young

72 year old Charlotte Louise Young died Saturday, June 4 of a short illness. She is survived by her husband, Carl; daughters, Linda Warwick and husband Mark of Colorado and Cheryl Moore-Hernandez and husband Boyd; sons, Stephen Moore and wife Holly, Michael Young of California, and Carl D. Young and wife Juany of Sparta; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Other family members include Edmonda and husband Howard Stephens, Dora and husband Dan Cummings, Oscar, Jr. and wife Brassie Young, Elsie Young of Sparta, and Nora Young of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be Saturday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Indian Mound The Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Indian Mound Cemetery. George Washington Roberts, Sr.

84 year old George Washington Roberts, Sr. died Sunday at Raintree Manor in McMinnville of an extended illness. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a Baptist minister. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home. Dal Barrett will officiate and burial will be in the Shellsford Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah and Lou Barnes Roberts; his wife Berta Leola Bess Roberts; and a brother, John Roberts. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, George Washington, Jr. and Beverly Dianne Roberts of Morrison, Terry Lee Roberts of McMinnville, Barry Lynn “Fuzz” and Carol Roberts of the Irving College Community, and Paul David Roberts of Gainesboro. Four grandchildren and spouses, Laurie Ann Roberts and Billy Wayne Delong of McMinnville, Julie Leann Roberts and Ryan John Jagoda of Casco, Michigan, Aaron Michael and Hollie Roberts of Morrison, and Jessica Danielle Roberts and Tyler Smith of Morrison. Six great grandchildren, McKenzie Roberts and Benjamin Smith both of Morrison, Timothy David Delong and Ashley Danielle Rarick of McMinnville, Anna Caitlin Jagoda and Jason Michael Jagoda both of Casco, Michigan.
