90 year old Robert Lee “Bob” Wall of Bowling Green, Kentucky died Tuesday at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Wall was a retired TVA Area Supervisor, and a member of the State Street United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in Electrical Engineering. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Don Davidson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from noon until the service at 2:00 p.m. Wall was preceded in death by his parents, Cordie B. and Laura Green Wall; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Clinton and Maureen Wall, Green and Maud Wall, B.C. and Ruby Wall, and Alton Gentry Wall; Brother-in-law, J.B. Redmon; and a great nephew, Luke Barnett. Wall is survived by his wife of 69 years, Wilma Lucille Curtis Wall of Bowling Green, Kentucky. A son, Jim and wife Julia Wall and a daughter, Jan Alexander all of Smithville. Two grandsons, John and wife Heather Wall of Louisville, Kentucky and Daniel Alexander of Knoxville. One granddaughter, Jenny and husband Doug Lynch of Orlando, Florida. Two great grandsons, Chase and Cole Wall. One great granddaughter, Sarah Lynch of Florida. One sister, Ruth Wall Redmon of Smithville. Two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Barnett of Georgia and JoAnn Wall of Smithville. He was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews. Charles Beard Turney
68 year old Charles Beard Turney of Alexandria died Monday at the Pavilion in Lebanon. He was born in Wilson County and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Turney was also a Methodist and he served in the U.S. Army. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Burial will be in the Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service. Turney was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Turney and a brother, John Kenneth Turney. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Jean Capps Turney of Alexandria. Children, Scott and wife Kelly Carman of Elgin, South Carolina; Tabitha and husband Cory Huddleston of Lebanon; and Amanda and husband Jason Deakins of Lebanon. 79 year old Ray Nell Adcock of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Wallace Caldwell and Johnny Adcock will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Otis and Bessie Lou Young Adcock; three brothers, Jewell Brown, Manuel, and James Adcock; and a sister, Irene Adcock Turner. He is survived by companion, Diane Pirtle. Two sons, Everett Steve and wife Yoko Susuki Adcock of San Jose, California and Michael Leo and wife Greta Adcock of Smithville. John Odum Evans
89 year old John Odum Evans of Liberty died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center of Smithville. He was a retired funeral director of 50 years and a farmer. Evans was also a deacon at Salem Baptist Church for 55 years and one of the first directors of Salem Cemetery. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, where he was a member for 81 years. Mark Wade will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 pm. at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Hoyte and Annette Odum Evans. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Valeria Groom Evans of Liberty. A son, Doyle Evans of Liberty. 88 year old John Lee Alexander of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare of Smithville. He was the retired owner of Smithville Motors. Alexander was also a member of the Jaycees and the Smithville Church of Christ. The funeral will be Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dan Gulley and Tim Woodward will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Gardens in Woodbury. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 4:00 p.m. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, Elmus Raymon and Lucille Bragg Alexander; a brother, Robert Alexander; sister-in-law, Jean Alexander; two brothers-in-law, Gene Mitchell and Ed Neely; and great nephew, David Wayne Alexander. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jane Alexander. A daughter, Sandye and husband Steve Hays of Smithville. Barbara Elisabeth Armbruster
89 year old Barbara Elisabeth Armbruster of Watertown died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was the daughter of the late Robert Atwood and Eva Nancy Roberts Creighton. She was married to Carleton F. Armbruster who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Mullican. After graduating from business college in 1960, her family moved from Connecticut to Florida where she worked for Boeing in data processing on the Minuteman Program until its conclusion. She then worked as a secretary for Harvey’s Groves until her retirement. After her husband’s retirement from O.V.C. in 1985, they bought a farm in Watertown. Mrs. Armbruster is survived by three sons, Robert C., Sr. and wife Jerry Armbruster of Merritt Island, Florida; Robert Thomas Armbruster of Watertown; and Gary and wife Pat Armbruster of Merritt Island, Florida. Twelve grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild also survive. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where a memorial service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. The Armbruster family will receive friends at Avant Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers. 82 year old Charlene Cantrell Dunn of Michigan died Sunday at Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. A graveside service will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 3:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, Harvey Dunn. A daughter, Elaine Gail Gill. A son, William Dunn. Two sisters, Alpha Dean Young and Mary Ann Cantrell. A brother, Alton Cantrell. She was a beloved grandmother and great grandmother. 70 year old Frances Haggard of Smithville died Thursday at her residence. She was a retired cook at Smithville Elementary School. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennell Haggard; parents, Dallas and Marthann Ford Montgomery; a brother, Roger Montgomery; and a sister, Edith Maxwell.
