Norma Jean George

84 year old Norma Jean George of Wyndridge Health Center in Crossville died Monday there. She was a medical technologist and a member of the Smithville Church of the Nazarene. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward George; her mother, Elma Brooks Cleek; her father, Bryant Cleek; a grandson, Bryan Mullikin; a brother, Royce Cleek; and a sister, Margaret Orman. She is survived by two daughters, Saundra Jeannette and husband Brooks Niel of Antioch and Phyllis and husband Steve Mullikin of Butler, Kentucky. Four grandchildren, Sonja, Mitzi, Brooke, and Edward. Seven great grandchildren, Kaitlen, Christian, Tyler, Caleb, Cody, Caden, and Zoe. Two great great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Madelyn. Ray Johnson

67 year old Ray Johnson of Smithville died Sunday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He attended the House of Prayer. Johnson was also a retired businessman and truck driver. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Tommy Taylor, Danny Parker, and Craig Mahler will officiate. Burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Wilson Johnson. Survivors include his children, Vicky and husband Thomas Snow and David Johnson all of Smithville. Grandchildren, Thomas Hutchings, Emily Snow, Trista Johnson, and Karrie Johnson. Great grandchild, Kaydence Johnson. Mother, Emma Lee Johnson of Smithville. Brother, Jerry Johnson of Smithville. Albert Joseph Kelly

90 year old Albert Joseph Kelly died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital after a short illness. He was born on July 13th, 1920 and was a resident of Smithville. Kelly is survived by his wife, Sue Cripps Kelly of Smithville. A daughter, Arbie Irelan of Lawrenceburg and a son, Reverend Donnie Kelly of Loretto, Tennessee. Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with Dwayne Green, Michael Farr, and Donnie Kelly officiating. Burial will be follow at Unity Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Louise Braswell

83 year old Louise Braswell of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Freddy Curtis will officiate with burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Braswell; parents, Matt and Will Ellen Warren Redmon; brother, Charlie Redmon, and three sisters, Cilla Mae Redmon, Frances Hendrixson, and Magdalene Emberton. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Trena and Freddy Curtis of Smithville; one son, Ricky Braswell of Smithville. Four grandsons, Matthew Curtis of Smithville, Trent and wife Tessa Curtis, Casey Curtis, and Evan Curtis. One great-granddaughter, Ella Mae Curtis of Smithville. 86 year old Lois R. Watson of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Watson; her parents, Herman Alfred Blankenship and Mary Evaline Corley Blankenship, and three sisters, Vernie Blankenship Keith, Florence Blankenship Green, and Elizabeth Blankenship Tittsworth. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Jill Watson of Smithville; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Patricia and Mike Gantt of Madisonville, Kentucky, and Jeanne and David Smith of Old Hickory. Etheleon Jones Williamson

94 year old Etheleon Jones Williamson of McMinnville died Saturday at River Park Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in DeKalb County .She was a member of Locust Street Church of God in Warren County. She worked as a shoe finisher at Genesco for 33 years. There will be a graveside service Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. View Cemetery with Roland Sharp officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at High Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Roshie Jones; her husband, Alfred Williamson; a daughter, Betty G. Smith, and a son, Ray E. Williamson. A brother, Arthur Jones, and sisters, Atha Davenport and Artha Hollandsworth. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and wife Betty Williamson of McMinnville, Doyal and wife Pat Williamson of Murfeesboro, and Freddy Williamson of McMinnville. Kenneth “Cooney” Hendrixson

72 year old Kenneth “Cooney” Hendrixson of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was a member of the Dibrell Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a U.S. Army veteran, member of AmVets, and a nursery worker. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Delton and Lucille Buckner Hendrixson; a brother, J.D. Hendrixson; and a nephew, Jerry Hendrixson. He is survived by nephews, Randall Hendrixson of Smithville, Bobby and wife Joyce Hendrixson of McMinnville, Phillip and wife Roxanne Hendrixson and Ricky and wife Renee Hendrixson all of Smithville. Thomas “Great Tom” Faulkner

97 year old Thomas “Great Tom” Faulkner of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He worked for the U.S. Government. Faulkner also served in World War II and he was a Presbyterian. Mr. Faulkner’s wishes were direct cremation. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank and Sara Whisonant Faulkner; wives, Sally and Pauline Faulkner; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include a son, Charles and his wife Margaret Faulkner of Arrington. Three grandchildren, Melissa Bennett of Arrington, Brian Faulker of Nashville, and Kathryn Welden of California. Three great grandchildren, Charles and Olivia Bennett of Arrington and Araxie Welden of California. A memorial service will be announced later. Merle Clifton Meyers

86 year old Merle Clifton Meyers of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired Chief Executive Officer of the Middle Tennessee Natural Gas Company; a charter member of the Tennessee Gas Association which formed in 1963, serving on its first board of directors as well as other levels. He was also an active member of both Civic and Industrial boards, former Chairman of the Smithville Industrial Board, President of the Smithville Lions Club, a Shriner, a 32nd degree Mason, and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also a World War II veteran and a 50 year member of Smithville First United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Smithville First United Methodist Church. Dr. John Purdue will officiate and entombment will be at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service to be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. No visitation will be held prior to the service at the church. Meyers was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Meyers; two sisters, Donna Walden and Arva Baker; a daughter-in-law, Trudy Meyers, and his second wife, Marilyn Nixon Meyers. Survivors include a son, Jon B. and his wife, Megan Meyers of Midlothian, Virginia. A daughter, Jean M. Meyers of Smithville. A grandson, Justin and his wife Elizabeth Meyers of Exton, Pennsylvania. Mother of his children, Hilda K. Meyers of Smithville. A sister, Wanda Underhill of Cypress, Texas and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Jo Parton

81 year old Mrs. Jo Parton died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church Pentecost. She was also retired from Genesco. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Jerry Braswell will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Novie Yates Taylor; granddaughter, Melissa Hunt; brothers, Albert Taylor, Solon Taylor, and James Taylor; and sisters, Carnell Keith and Elizabeth Young. Survivors include her husband, Frank Parton of Smithville. A daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Don Jones of Bowling Green, Kentucky. A granddaughter and her husband, Karri and Charles Provance of Bowling Green, Kentucky. A grandson-in-law, Jeff Hunt of Portland.
