Delores Eileen Cole Prelich

79 year old Delores Eileen Cole Prelich of Smithville died Sunday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Andrew Michael and Ethel Mae Edwards Prelich. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also involved in the teaching ministry at the Webb House, a volunteer at Haven of Hope, and she participated in the jail ministry in DeKalb County. Mrs. Prelich was also the former minister of music at First Baptist Church in Smithville and Salem Baptist Church in Liberty. A memorial service will be held after the Sunday morning worship service at the Smithville First Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Andrea Cantrell of Smithville, Debra Hallison of Lakeworth, Florida, and Denise Fuson of Kodak, Tennessee. A son, Darryl Cole of Cookeville. A brother, Thomas Prelich of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Prelich was preceded in death by one son, Stephen. Bobbie Gene Todd

50 year old Bobbie Gene Todd of Smithville died Friday at Raintree Manor in McMinnville. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Carson Russ will officiate and burial will be in the Gunter Grizzle Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Lawson Davis; three sisters, Wanda Todd, Donna Moore, and Joyce Farless. Survivors include her parents, James and Geneva Todd of Morrison. One sister, Judy Fish of Dowelltown. One brother, Ricky Todd of Murfreesboro. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Donald Ray Smith

79 year old Donald Ray Smith of Smithville died Friday at his residence. He was a 50 year member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran, and he was a retired builder and farmer. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Donald Owens, Bill Robertson, and Carl Smith will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Nan Smith; his mother and father-in-law, Reverend Grady and Evie Crook; two brothers, Marvin and Solon Smith; and three sisters, Evelyn Keith, Lucille Lepley, and Nazalle Lepley. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margie Smith of Smithville. Four children, Mike Smith, Marlene and husband Danny Adams, Pat and husband Ronnie Arnold, and Mark Smith all of Smithville. Seven grandchildren, Michael and wife Tonya Smith of McMinnville, Jacob and wife Lacey Smith of Cookeville, Danielle and husband Anthony Carr, Jordan Adams, Blaine and wife Kayla Adams, Zachary Arnold, and Joshua Arnold all of Smithville. Seven great grandchildren and one sister, Reba Malone of Dowelltown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and his beloved church family at Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. Frances Ray McBroom Stone

72 year old Frances Ray McBroom Stone of Woodbury died Wednesday. Born in Cannon County, she grew up in Woodbury and graduated from Central High School in the Class of 1956. She attended MTSU and later worked for many years as an executive secretary for the Rutherford County School System. She was also a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodbury Church of Christ. Al Bugg, Jr. and Herb Alsup will officiate and burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Woodbury. Visitation will be Saturday at the Woodbury Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James E. Stone, Sr. of Woodbury. Her mother, W.T. Hendrixson McBroom of Woodbury. Her son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Greta Stone of Woodbury. Brother-in-law, Charlie F. and Judy Stone of Kimberling City, Missouri. Five grandchildren, Tyler Stone, Sean Stone, Tabitha Stone, Jacob Stone, and Will Stone. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Dave “R.D.” McBroom. 88 year old Otha Dell Conger of Smithville died Thursday at the Webb House Retirement Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of Christ. Tim Woodward and Dan Gulley will officiate and burial will be in Town Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.P. Conger. Survivors include two sons, Hilton Conger of Smithville and John Conger of Nashville. Two daughters, Jane Depriest of Oxford, Mississippi and Carol Buchanan of Decater, Alabama. Kelly Owens

65 year old Kelly Owens of Gordonsville died Monday at Centennial Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a private investigator. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Chris Long and Danny Chance will officiate. Interment will be at Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Retha Sharp Owens; a grandchild; brothers, Elbert, Luther, and Ronnie Owens; and sisters, Annie Tuttle and Martha Asher. Survivors include his wife, Karen Owens of Gordonsville. Children, Lisa and husband Vann, Marsha and husband J.M. Hall, and Melanie and husband Buddy Harmon all of Kentucky. Bobby Atnip

57 year old Bobby Atnip of Smithville died Monday at NHC Healthcare Center of Smithville. He was a mechanic and a member of the Peoples Pentecostal Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Goldie Lee and Mary Braswell Atnip and two brothers, Gordon Lee Atnip and Joel B. Atnip. Survivors include a son, Bobby Allan Knowles of Florida. A grandson, Bobby Allan Atnip of Joelton. A brother, Duywane Atnip of Joelton. Four sisters, Nancy Marie Whitefield of Smithville, Rose and Buck Bain of Smithville, Lois Ann Atnip of Nunnelly, and Cotton and Priscilla Bain of Smithville. Special niece and nephew, Tina Bain and Troy Bain and special great nephew, Jase Bain all of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Fran Melton

46 year old Fran Melton of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Baptist and worked as a home health nurse. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, James Doyle Melton, and Grandparents, Ruth and Richard Melton. She is survived by a daughter, Christy Brewington and Andre Wakefield, of Smithville; three grandchildren, John Ogden Melton, Ty Wakefield, and Nate Wakefield, all of Smithville; parents of the heart, Helen and B. L. Raymond of Smithville; siblings, Anita Kay and Donald Byrge of Smithville, Doyle and Angie Melton of Sparta, Tommy Melton of Murfreesboro, Gena and Craig Vaughn of Smithville, and Kirk and Kathy Martin of Smithville. 83 year old Mildred Estelle Patrick of Alexandria died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was born in DeKalb County, daughter of the late Greeley Columbus and Elsie Barry Vickers. She worked at the Alexandria Shirt Factory and was a member of the Alexandria Church of Christ. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Jeff Ford and Charlie West will officiate and burial will follow in the Vanatta Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday after 10:00 a.m. Patrick is survived by her son, Bobby and wife Johnnie Patrick of Alexandria. 53 year old Danny Ray Ferrell of Woodbury died Thursday at his home of an extended illness. He was born in Cannon County and was a member of the Gospel of Faith Church, the Cannon County Walking Horse Association, and he worked at the Cannon County Highway Department. The funeral will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in the Sugar Tree Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Brown Ferrell and Sudie Nadine Ferrell; a brother, Charlie Ferrell, and a sister, Jo Dean Ferrell.
