50 year old Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Murphy of Smithville died Sunday in Butner, North Carolina. He was a Baptist , a U.S. Army Veteran, and a nurseryman. The family has chosen direct cremation. No service will be held. Murphy was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Lee Murphy; his parents, L.C. and Frances Parsley Murphy; and a brother, Bruce Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Tabatha Murphy of McMinnville. Children, Danny Ray Murphy of Smithville, Jeffery Murphy of Cookeville, Frances Shantell Murphy, Buddy Lee Murphy, and Samantha Jo Murphy all of Smithville. Step-children, Lisa Darnail Johnson, Christopher Avery Johnson, and Daniel Lynn Johnson all of Smithville. Several sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews. James Mason Adcock
81 year old James Mason Adcock of Smithville died Sunday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was retired from the Chrysler Corporation. He was also a logger with Adcock Logging Company and a member of the Mount Hope The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tim Bennett, Dwight Knowles, and Johnny Adcock will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Odus and Bessie Young Adcock; a son, Calvin Adcock; and three daughters, Janice, Deborah, and Patricia Adcock. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Judkins Adcock; a daughter, Kathy and her husband Steve Merz; and a son, Lee Adcock. Five grandchildren, Stephanie Adcock Johnson, Mason Adcock Brandt, Daniel Adcock Brant, Ashley Brandt, and Quinton Adcock. Four great grandchildren, Makira, Emma, Aspen, and Carmon Johnson. 83 year old Eugene Dunn of Smithville died Friday at the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a farmer, a Methodist, and a World War II Army Veteran. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Steffee and Sandra Kirby will officiate and burial will be in the Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Riley and Ada Helen Pedigo Dunn and two brothers, Olan and Harley Dunn. Survivors include three brothers, James and his wife Shirley Dunn and Lonnie Dunn of Smithville and William Harvey and wife Charlene Dunn of Michigan. 89 year old Ellen Josephine Davis Hendrixson of McMinnville died Thursday at Raintree Manor. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of McMinnville where she served as Sunday School Superintendent. Hendrixson was preceded in death by her parents, Abner and Lizzie Davis. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home. Bob Case will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service. She is survived by her husband, Bill Evins Hendrixson of McMinnville. Two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalyn and Earl Partin of McMinnville and Lizanne and Jim Hunter of Louisville, Kentucky.
