Eunice Elmer Caplinger

96 year old Eunice Elmer Caplinger of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church and a retired shirt factory worker and a homemaker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Royce Martin and Matt Long will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delton Caplinger; a son, Doyle Caplinger; a grandson, Johnny E. Barry; a great grandson, Brian Doyle Pack; brothers, Leon Johnson and Charlie Johnson; and sisters, Cardene Starnes and Gertie Scott. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Frankie J. and Jack Watkins of Smithville. A daughter-in-law, Dorothy Caplinger of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Charles Caplinger, Doylene Caplinger, and Melissa Branscomb. Twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Harold Reed Thweatt

73 year old Harold Reed Thweatt of McMinnville died Friday at Riverpark Hospital. He was retired from the Warren County Highway Department and a Baptist. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lelon and Betty Ann Cantrell Thweatt; his wife, Helen Judkins Thweatt; a daughter, Wanda Powers; a brother, Charles Lee Thweatt; and a sister, Diania Cantrell. Survivors include a son, Phillip and his wife Debbie Thweatt; three grandchildren, Denise Powers, Paula Pedigo, and Brandon Harris all of McMinnville. Five great grandchildren, Logan Ogden, Brooklyn Powers, MaKayla Powers, Ivy Cantrell, and Layla Greenwall all of McMinnville. Timothy Lee Cline

55 year old Timothy Lee Cline of Alexandria died Saturday at the Quality Care Nursing Home in Lebanon. He was born in Woodland, California, son of Mary Katherine James and Earl Gastineau. Cline was preceded in death by hIs maternal grandparents, Lorell and Luther James of Hickman and his paternal grandparents, Mamie and Dutch Gastineau of Woodland, California, and his step-father, Roy L. Tripp. In 1967, his family moved from California to Hickman. He attended the Gordonsville Elementary and High Schools. After school, he held numerous positions in the work field, from factory worker to driving a semi-truck and working construction. He was a member of the Hickman Baptist Church. Cline is survived by two daughters, Shanna and husband David Wayne Washer of Watertown and Tasha and husband Chris Brooks Cline of Murfreesboro. Grandchildren, Alissa Thackxton and Khloe Cline. His mother, Mary K. Tripp of Alexandria. His father, Earl Gastineau of Phoenix, Arizona. A sister, Debbie Eaton of Alexandria. Nephews, Jerimey Howard and Randy Eaton. Great niece, Kaia Howard. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cline’s remains are at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. A graveside service and inurnment will be held at the Gordonsville Cemetery on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. with eulogist Mark Medley. Jane Hughes Bratten

84 year old Jane Hughes Bratten of Nashville died Sunday at The Meadows in Nashville. She was a retired pharmacist at Saint Thomas Hospital and a member of Salem Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Don Mathis and Mark Wade will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gertrude Spurlock Bratten and a brother, Bundy Bratten. Survivors include a sister, Mary and her husband Jack Duggin of Nashville and Annetta Fite of Liberty. 75 year old Shirley Jewell Smith of Smithville died Sunday at Baptist Hospital. She was a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Smith was also a homemaker. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Larry Green will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Tharling and Alice Kelly Jewell. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James Smith of Smithville. A daughter, Kelley and her husband Scott Garrett of Smithville. A son, Jessie Scott and wife Rachel Smith of Bloomfield, Indiana. Four grandchildren, Austin and Sloan Garrett, Jeremy Smith, and Cheyene Smith. Two great grandchildren, Halley and Tiffany Smith. A sister, Jo Ann Jacobs of Charlotte, North Carolina. Patricia Gail Walker

59 year old Patricia Gail Walker of Smithville died Friday at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was a member of the New Home Baptist Church and she attended the New Life United Pentecostal Church. Walker was also a nurse. The funeral will be Monday night at 7:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Dwayne Cornelius will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 7:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, William Prater; and her mother and step-father, Dorothy and Wade Ervin. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Walker of Smithville. Five children, Penny and husband Anthony Cantrell, Scott and wife Misty Walker, Shane and wife Michelle Walker, and Sam Walker all of Smithville; Marieta and husband Matt Ferrell of McMinnville. Thirteen grandchildren, Stephen and Bradley Barrett, Jacob and Elicia Cantrell, Stacey, Kelley, Hannah, and Isaac Walker, Jordan and Domanik Ferrell, Ethan Winchester, Olivia, and Levi Walker. Gordon Monroe Williams

65 year old Gordon Monroe Williams of Alexandria died Thursday at his residence. He was a farmer and a worker for UCARTS. He also attended the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Sara Dodd Williams. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Williams of Alexandria. One son, Shawn Williams of Chattanooga. One daughter, Charity Williams of Ohio. Milton “Bo” Lee Stewart

62 year old Milton “Bo” Lee Stewart of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was the retired owner of Bo’s Trucking. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Everlasting Life section of Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Stewart and Elsie Pauline Hall Mayton; a sister, Elsie McEwen; and a grandson, Casey Stewart. Survivors include three sons, Michael and his wife Jill Stewart of Hermitage, Joey and his wife Shelley Stewart of Mount Juliet, and Bo Edward and his wife Patty Stewart of Columbia. Seven grandchidren. Two sisters, Darlene and her husband James Matthews of Smithville and Rebecca Stewart of Dixon. 20 year old Roger Dale Curtis, III of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Mount Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church, member of the National Guard Reserve, and he was employed at Wal-mart. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in the Burton- Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Elaine Yates and his grandfather, Charles Cubbins. Survivors include his parents, Roger and Michelle Curtis of Smithville. Brothers, John and his wife Amanda Curtis of Cookeville, Lane Curtis of Smithville, Dustin Yates of Okeechobee, Florida.
