82 year old Lenzy Ray Stanley of Smithville died Saturday at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. He was a Baptist, a retired school bus driver, nurseryman, and a farmer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Tommy Davis and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Nancy Thomas Stanley; four sons, Ray Morris, Jerry, Donnie, and Marshal Stanley; wives Ophalen Stanley and Shelby Stanley; great-grandson, Michael Murphy; step-daughter, Jeanette Chapman; brothers, Hobert and Claude Stanley; and a sister, Lucille Tidwell. Survivors include step-daughters, Tonya and husband Wade Youngblood of Dowelltown, Denise and husband Wayne Bogle of McMinnville, and Jennifer Kincaid of Cookeville. Grandchildren, Priscilla and husband Bobby Mingle and Chris and Dana Stanley all of Gassaway; Samantha and husband Tony Vanatta of Ringgold, Georgia, Jerry and wife Allisha Stanley of Cleveland, and Donna and husband Matthew England; Drenda Murphy and companion Basil Foutch; and Roger and wife Letta Chapman all of Smithville. Helen Rose Robinson
82 year old Helen Rose Robinson of Cookeville died Friday at her residence. She was a retired restaurant owner and a member of the First Baptist Church. She requested to be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Georgianna Jodway LaFrinere and a sister, Dorothy Calo. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Brisco Robinson of Cookeville. One daughter, Karen and her husband Dwayne Foster of Smithville. One grandson, Kirt and Tina Boles of Australia. One granddaughter, Krysta Foster of Lebanon. Three great grandchildren, Nathan, Samuel, and Carla Boles of Australia. Two sisters, Irene Buckner and Pat Krupa both of Michigan. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 71 year old Ralph Williams of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was retired from Mark IV. The funeral will be Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Vistitaton will be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Alley and Ethel Hendrixson Williams; three brothers, Gene, Louie, and Ray Williams, and a sister, Mable Williams. Survivors include a daughter, Tammy and her husband Greg Owens of Smithville. One son, Randy Williams of Smithville, his Fiance, Clata Owens. Two grandsons, Codi Funk and Devon Owens of Smithville. One brother, J.B. Williams of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Wilma Jo Ferrell
74 year old Wilma Jo Ferrell of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Mount Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church and a former co-owner of Ferrell’s Grocery Store and a factory worker. A graveside service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Bernard Houk will officiate. No visitation or service will be held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Ailene Hibdon George. Survivors include her husband, Ellis Ferrell of Smithville. Children, Marshall and his wife Beverly Ferrell, Frances and husband Ricky Martin, Wade and wife Lisa Ferrell, and Darnette Hibdon all of Smithville. Seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother, Wayne George of Ashland City. Half-brother, Tim George of Smithville. Sisters, Mary McNeese and Edna Moore both of Nashville. Gordon Walker
92 year old Gordon Walker of Alexandria died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be at the Alexandria First Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Don Elmore and Curt Wagoner will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria. The Walker family will receive friends at Avant Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 pm. and on Wednesday at the Alexandria First Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International. Walker was born on June 1st, 1918 in the house where he lived when he died. He was the son the late May Marler and Robert Walker. Three brothers, Robert, James, and John Walker preceded him in death. A son-in-law, Homer “Ed” Edwards preceded him in death on August 18th, 2004. He was married to Grace Givan on September 10th, 1942. He was a farmer and had been a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church for some 80 years. Walker is survived by his wife of 68 years, Grace Givan Walker of Alexandria. A daughter, Helen Walker Edwards of Alexandria. A son and daughter-in-law, Billy and LaVonne Walker of Alexandria. Six grandchildren, Steve and wife Amy Edwards of Murfreesboro, Angie and husband Keith Garrett of Vonore, Tennessee; Tim and wife Nicole Edwards of Knoxville; Julie and husband Kent Beasley of Lebanon; Jill and husband Tim Chappell of Alexandria; and Cindy Walker of Alexandria, Eight great grandchildren, Logan, Emma, Ava, Audrey, Colton, Brady, and Lola Klaire Chappell and Jack Walker Beasley. 63 year old Jerrol Wayne Stults of Smithville died Sunday at his residence. He was a member of Scott’s Chapel Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee. Stults was also in construction and a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. David Mahan will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Stults was preceded in death by his father, Ray Alton Stults. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Stults of Smithville. Children, Crystal and husband James Guijalva of Smithville, Jennifer and husband Ronald Summers of Rock Island, Kirk and wife Samantha Stults, and Stacey and Shannon Holt all of Waynesboro. 50 year old Karen Sue Applegate Rigsby of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was the Dietary Manager at NHC, member of the Bethel Methodist Church, and a member of the Eastern Star. A memorial service will be Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at the Bethel Methodist Church. Royce Martin will officiate. Survivors include two daughters, Roberta and husband Allen Wilkerson and Piper Rigsby all of Smithville. Parents, Bob and Phyllis Applegate of Aberdeen, Ohio. Two sisters, Bev and husband Roger Gifford of Ripley Ohio and Sandy Pumpelly of Aberdeen, Ohio. Six nieces and nephews, Leslie and husband Chris Miller of Ripley, Ohio, Gretchen and husband Todd Stout of Louisville, Kentucky, Kenton, Tucker, Chloe and Blaine Pumpelly of Aberdeen, Ohio. Three great nieces and nephews, Emily and Emerson Miller of Aberdeen, Ohio and Carson Stout of Louisville, Kentucky. 76 year old Geneva Blanks Harrell died Friday at Alive Hospice in Nashville of an extended illness. She was born in Cannon County and a resident of Murfreesboro. She was also a member of the Kingwod Church of Christ and an administrative assistant. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Herb Alsup and Doug Hutchins will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sibyl Melton and her parents, Clyde L. Blanks and Gladys Wilson Blanks. Survivors include her husband, Sterling Harrell of Murfreesboro. Children, Brenda Harrell McKenzie and husband Terry of Murfreesboro, Beverly Harrell Wallace and husband Pat of Murfreesboro, and Brian Harrell of Murfreesboro. 59 year old Carlon “Carl” Dale Lawrence died Monday. He was a longtime businessman with the Giles County Farm Bureau Agency where he eventually retired. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 5:00 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Darlene and daughters, Michelle Lawrence and Amanda White and husband Tim. Five grandchildren, Clay Hughes, Victoria Hughes, and Hannah, Maggie, and Sadie White. His brother, Luther Lawrence and his wife Nina of Smithville. Sisters, Margaret Davis of Estelle Springs and Marie Jackson of Lebanon along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Lawrence. 53 year old Don Austin (Hog Man) Womack of the Gath Community died Monday at River Park Hospital. He was born in Warren County. He was a die setter with A. O. Smith Corporation and he attended Gath Baptist Church. Womack was preceded in death by his father Austin Womack. Survivors include his wife Vickie Womack of McMinnville. His mother Maudell Womack of McMinnville. A son Jeremy Womack and friend Chasity of McMinnville. A daughter and son-in-law Bethany Womack Nunley and husband Micah of McMinnville. A brother and sister-in-law Doug and Carolyn Womack of McMinnville and granddaughter Nadia Nunley. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Ray Gilder will officiate and burial will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
