Evelyn Wright Bogle

81 year old Evelyn Wright Bogle of Alexandria died Thursday at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was born in Alexandria, the daughter of the late Bertha Bliss Mason and Edgar Stevens Wright. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise Wright, Ben Wright, Malcolm Wright, Doug Wright, James Howard Wright, Ruby Wright Barry, Mary Wright Sandlin, Phocion Wright, Jack Wright, Joe Wright, and Frances Wright Lawrence. She was married to William A. “Bill” Bogle, Jr. and he preceded her in death. She worked at Welsh Manufacturing Company in Gordonsville for seventeen years. She was a lifetime member of the Alexandria Church of Christ. Bogle is survived by a daughter, Karen Fite of Murfreesboro. Sons, Randy Bogle and his wife Beth of Riverwatch and Jeff Bogle and his wife Beverly of Franklin. Grandsons, Bill Melton and wife Melissa of Franklin; Craig Melton and wife Julie of Murfreesboro; and Jeffrey Bogle of Franklin. Granddaughters, Brooke Bogle Frost of Vidalia, Georgia and Bailey Bogle of Franklin. Seven great grandchildren survive. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where the funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Trey Helton will officiate and burial will follow in Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria. Gary Wayne Cripps

63 year old Gary Wayne Cripps of Mount Juliet died Thursday at the Nashville V.A Hospital. He was born in DeKalb County. Cripps was also a Baptist, a graduate of DeKalb County High School, and a U.S. Army Disabled Veteran. Cripps served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Silver Star, Medal of Valor, and Purple Heart. He was active in the Donelson Civitan Club, Donelson Girls Softball Program, and the American Legion and V.F.W.. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Jerald Cripps and Kenneth Clayton will officiate and burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and prior to the service on Sunday. Cripps was preceded in death by his father, Carl Cripps. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Spence Cripps of Mount Juilet. A daughter, Angela Royalty of Lebanon. A grandson, Brody Royalty. His mother, Willie Jim Cripps of Dowelltown. Brothers, Jerald Cripps and wife Lisa of Liberty and Dwight Cripps of Dowelltown. A sister-in-law, Pat Marshall and husband Wayne of Cane Ridge. Nieces, Amy Raymond and Rosie Pollard. Larry Dale “Buck” Martin

59 year old Larry Dale “Buck” Martin of Liberty died Wednesday at the M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Martin was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany. He was also an assembler at Wal-mart and he attended the Faith Congregational Methodist Church and the Fuller’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Chris Long and Bobby Thomason will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Martin was preceded in death by his father, James C. Martin. Survivors include his wife, Connie Martin of Liberty. A son, Barry Martin of Smithville. A daughter, Natasha Figgins of Gallatin. Grandchildren, Kayla Hubbard, Tayler Martin, Lance League, Morgan Clark, Madison Figgins, LaPrice Figgins, and Lexis Figgins. His mother, Ruth Parker of Liberty. A sister, Judy and husband Gary Mathis of Liberty. A half-sister, Melisha Martin of Smithville. Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Billy and Bobbie Don Curtis of Liberty. Bernard Edmond Hickman

75 year old Bernard Edmond Hickman of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was employed by Westinghouse. The family has chosen direct cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Dunkirk, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burmond and Helen Life Hickman and a brother, Eldon Hickman. Survivors include his wife, Darla Hickman of Smithville. A daughter, Peggy Cotrell. Step-daughters, Denise Bergdoll and Diana Staudinger; and a brother, Desi Hickman. Dorothy Lamberson Frazier

80 year old Dorothy Lamberson Frazier of Smithville died Monday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, a Jaycette, and she was very involved in the Smithville First Baptist Church Recycled Teens. The funeral will be Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mark Bass will officiate and burial will be in Town Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 5:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Harold Frazier, Sr.; her parents, Jim Wade and Winnie Lamberson; a brother and sister-in-law, James and June Lamberson; and a son-in-law, Rickey Brown. Survivors include five daughters, Martha Brown, Jane and husband Thomas Groom, Shelia and husband Ed Whitford, Sue and husband Carl Sifford, and Mary and husband Emilio Barrientos. One son, Billy and wife Buffy Frazier. Thirteen grandchildren, Neal and wife Melissa Brown, Cynthia and husband Tony Cripps, Amanda and husband David Johnson, Emily and husband Kurt Watson, Samanthia and husband Brad Curtis, Janohn and husband Seth Billingsley, Shelia and husband Chad Kirby, Wendi Cook, Carla Sue Sifford, Sarah Frazier, Jacob Frazier, Abby Frazier, and James Barrientos. Shelby Ann Jennings

72 year old Shelby Ann Jennings of Liberty died Thursday at Middle Tennesseee Medical Center. She was an Education Assistant at DeKalb West School and a member of Salem Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Mark Wade and Thurman Seber will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home and from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Foutch Jennings; her parents, Flossie B. and Mary Hendrixson Cook; two sons, Jonathan Foutch Jennings and David Coble Jennings; and a brother, Bobby Cook. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Bud Denman of Riverwatch. A granddaughter, Madison Denman of Riverwatch. A grandson, Payne Denman of Riverwatch. Isaiah Nicholas James Freeman

Four month old Isaiah Nicholas James Freeman of Smithville died Tuesday at the emergency room of DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Young Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. The child was preceded in death by his great grandparents, James Larry Pedigo, James Hugh McGinnis, and Clyde B. and Lucille S. Hale. Survivors include his parents, Darryl James and Heather Renee Freeman of Smithville. Sisters, Adrianna Renee Church, Patience Destiny, Katherine Freeman, MaKenzi Leigh Freeman, and MaKaylyn Marie Freeman. Grandparents, Bobby and Margie Hale of Smithville, Jeff McGinnis of Sparta, James Darryl Freeman of Cincinnati, and Kimberly Ann Cohorn of Nashville. Ann Frankel Shaw

53 year old Ann Frankel Shaw of Liberty died Saturday at her residence. She worked at DeKalb Community Bank in Alexandria. She was also a member of Leadership DeKalb. Shaw was born in Wilmington, Delaware. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Liberty where she was a member. Mark Wade and Mike Carpenter will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 pm. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from noon until the time of the service. All visitation will be at Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel L. Frankel and Margorie Bailey Frankel, Survivors include a son, Michael F. Shaw of Liberty. A sister, Sandra and her husband Bruce Bryson of Delaware. Brothers, David and wife Maureen Frankel of Delaware and Lee and wife Sondra Frankel of South Carolina. Louie Brown McDowell, Jr.

57 year old Louie Brown McDowell, Jr. of Smithville died Thursday at his residence. He was a Christian and he served in the National Guard. McDowell was also manager at Cracker Barrel for 28 years in Cookeville. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale and David McDowell will officiate and burial will be in the Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willa Mae Hayes McDowell; a sister, Pattie Clayborn; a nephew, Brian Clayborn; and his best friend, Arlie Sexton. Survivors include sons, Nathan Scott and wife Melissa McDowell and Christopher Adam McDowell all of Cookeville. His father, Louie McDowell, Sr. of Smithville. Sisters, Cheryl Kay McDowell and husband David Bower of Murfreesboro and Cathy McDowell and husband Ronnie Gay of Fayetteville. A brother, David McDowell of Baxter and a grandson, Dylan McDowell. Carl “Sonny” Gilbert

68 year old Carl “Sonny” Gilbert of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a nurseryman and a member of the Bethlehem Community Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mike Satterfield will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 4:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Effie Jones Gilbert; two brothers, Howard Gilbert and James Helton; and two sisters, Ellen Kachar and Little Joe McCormick. Survivors include his wife, Linda Gilbert; one son, Carl Gilbert; and one daughter, Trena and husband Mike Satterfield all of Smithville. One step-son, Ray Young and one step-daughter, Lisa Robinson both of Sparta. Three grandchildren, Carl David Gilbert, II, Carla Gilbert, and Cody Satterfield all of Smithville.
