76 year old Willie James Lee Young of Sparta died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Peeled Chestnut Church and retired from Dwyers Instrument. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Gary Farris will officiate and burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Hallie Mabe Young; his wife, Dessie Hicks Young; a daughter, Denise Arlene Daniels; one sister, Lorene Davis; two brothers, Wiley Gene Young and Willard Young. He is survived by one daughter, Gail and husband Frosty Osborne of Indiana; two sons, Lloyd and his wife Reanne Young of Indiana, and Greg Young of Sparta; one brother, Ernest Young of Sparta. Kenneth W. Allen
53 year old Kenneth W. Allen of Alexandria died Saturday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Allen was born at Lebanon, the son of the late Clara Dale Hall Allen and John William Allen, and grandson of the late Jeanie Mae and Hubert Hall. He worked for TVA for 30 years as manager of safety and surplus equipment, retiring in 2005. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Elmer Lee Ellis, Jr. and Danny Sellars will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria. 89 year old David Clarence Joins of Smithville died Saturday at NHC Health Care Center in McMinnville. He was a member of the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a farmer. 60 year old Phillip Lee Trobaugh died Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the Nash Grove Baptist Church, served in the Tennessee Army National Guard, and he was retired from Fleetguard. 70 year old Barbara Nell Parkerson of Temperance Hall Road, Liberty died Thursday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was born in DeKalb County, a factory worker, teachers aid, a graduate of Liberty High School, and a member of the Malones Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Mike Gay and Jerry Osborne will officiate and burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. 47 year old Jeff Nichols of Woodbury died Wednesday at his home. He was born in Cannon County. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Richmond W.R. & Lucille Nichols and maternal grandparents, James Clyde & Anna Bell Hughes. 73 year old Joe A. Reeder, Sr. of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church for 59 years serving in various capacities. He was one of six people who served at West Side Mission as a representative from the mother church until it was constituted into a church which is now Calvary Baptist Church. Reeder was a member of the Liberty Lodge #77, a Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason, and a Shriner. He was employed as a people greeter at Walmart. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mark Bass, Brett McNew, and Anthony Rosolowski will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 84 year old Jim “Pa Jim” Summers of Dowelltown died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired Corps of Engineers Machine Operator. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Danny Bandy will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. 75 year old Jim Truitt Hale of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Believers Tabernacle Church in Murfreesboro. Hale was also retired from TVA and he worked as a custodian for the DeKalb County School System for 10 years. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. James Kenneth (Ken) Lee
68 year old James Kenneth (Ken) Lee of McMinnville (Highland Community) and a native of Wayne County died Monday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a long illness. Lee was a longtime businessman and retailer in McMinnville owning and operating Ken’s Auto Parts and the Tire Mart over the span of 38 years before retiring in July of 2000. He was a member of the Bybee Branch Church of Christ where he formerly served as Deacon. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Lena Morton Lee and brothers Horace Lee and Albert Lee, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Glyna F. Jones Lee. A son Michael Lee of McMinnville. A daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Craig Sprinkles of Syracuse, New York. Grandchildren Leah Nicole and Lauren Riley Sprinkles of Syracuse, New York. Brothers and sisters-in-law Glann and Craig Lee of Decherd and Franklin and Reva Lee of Lawrenceburg. A sister-in-law Mary Lee of Novi, Michigan. Many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
