Judy Fay Simmons

63 year old Judy Fay Simmons of Smithville died Thursday of an extended illness at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Baptist and a retired employee of Smithville Manufacturing (shirt factory). The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Trent Colwell will officiate and burial will be in the Shellsford Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vivian George Thomason; her husband, Claude M. Simmons; two brothers, James and Billy Thomason; and two sisters, Wanda Jenkins and Patsy Thomason. She is survived by five children, Sonya Rene Cantrell, Tarron Lynn Carter, Penny Murphy, and Pamela Ann Curtis all of Smithville and Vickie Kay Cobble of McMinnvillle. Three step-children, Ronnie Lynn Simmons of Nashville, Teresa Walls of McMinnville, and Shounda Williams of Sparta. Nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren survive along with four sisters, Louise Jones, Virginia Jones, Betty Certain, and Janice Pollard all of Smithville. One brother, Jonah Thomason of Woodbury. Several nieces and nephews. High Funeral Home in McMinnville is in charge of the arrangements.

Loki Raye Golden

Loki Raye Golden, son of Ashley Dawn Golden of Smithville and Samuel Nathan Lee Davis, was stillborn Sunday, June 14th at his residence. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Raye Golden and great grandparents, Chuck and Dottie South, and Patricia Ann Rice. In addition to the parents, the child is survived by his grandparents, Belinda Golden of Smithville and Tina and Sammy Davis of Lebanon. An uncle, Christopher Shawn South; aunts, Sara Nicole South and Kara Nicole Schirder; Godparent, Janis Evans; and special friends, Christopher Allen Summers and Donna Faye Summers; and other family members. Noah John Roth

Noah John Roth, infant son of Caleb Roth and Ashley Underhill of Alexandria, arrived stillborn on Tuesday, June 23 at University Medical Center in Lebanon. A graveside service will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Hillview Cemetery. Jason Groe will officiate. The child was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Ed Roth and great aunt, Dana Roth. In addition to the parents, the child is survived by his grandparents, James Underhill, Lisa and husband Chris Tramel, and John and wife Kela Roth all of Alexandria. Uncles, Nicholas Underhill of Alexandria and Sean Tramel of North Carolina. An aunt, Cassie Roth of Alexandria. Great grandparents, John and Shelvie Jean Underhill and Jerry and Sherry Cripps all of Alexandria, Ron and Nelda McEntyre of Chattanooga, Katie Roth and John and Linda Cannon all of North Carolina. Dorothy Lee Luna

84 year old Dorothy Lee Luna of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of the Mount View The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dennis Wood and Dwight Knowles will officiate and burial will be in the Young Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Elizabeth Young Taylor; four brothers, Greston, Mason, W.B., and Edward Taylor; two sisters, Emmie Knowles and Wilma Poss; and her husband, Homer Luna. Survivors include one son, Jewel and his wife Phyllis Martin of McMinnville. Two daughters, Joannia Thompson and friend Randy Gilley of Dowelltown and Teresa and husband Paul Stringer of Livingston. Molly Edith Seals

85 year old Molly Edith Seals of Smithville died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a member of the Snow Hill United Methodist Church and a homemaker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Kenneth Clayton, Perry Clayton, and Tim Clayton will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Floyd Clayton and Roy Seals; a daughter, Rebecca Beason; her parents, Talmadge and Rebecca Moore Davis; and two sisters, Alta Vandergriff and Wilma Cubbins. She is survived by children, Brenda Trapp of Smithville, Kenneth and his wife Ellen Clayton of Smithville, Perry and his wife Dana Clayton of Crossville, and Debra and husband Tony Miller of Georgia. Twenty two grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren survive. Four sisters, Lena Vanderpool, Ova Driver, Marie Robinson all of Smithville and Marie Close of Mount Juliet. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. Debra Jean Vinca

47 year old Debra Jean Vinca of Smithville died Thursday at Cookeville Regional Hospital. She was an employee of Kingston Timer and she attended Berea Church of Christ. The family has chosen direct cremation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Maria Joyce Aldrich Wells. She is survived by her husband, James Vinca; two daughters, Jolene Hendrixson and Arianna Vinca; and one granddaughter, Mikayla Hendrixson all of Smithville. 85 year old Robbie Fisher of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC of Smithville. She was a Methodist and her occupation was domestic help. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burns Lyons will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Fisher and her parents, Ferman and Hallie Shaw. Survivors include two sons, Jerry and wife Tonie Fisher of Denver, Colorado and Sammy and wife Jan Fisher of Smithville. Three daughters, Linda and husband Michael Ramsey of McMinnville, Carolyn and husband Louis Battles of Morrison, and Betty and husband Lee Fisk of Smithville. Twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren. One sister, Lucille Demmings of Indianapolis, Indiana. One brother-in-law, Leon Fisher of Nashville. 88 year old Claudia Emberton of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC of Smithville. She was a retired employee of Genesco and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Allen Mahan will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Methodist Church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Terry and Avo Pedigo Trapp; a son, Henry Jackson Emberton. Four sisters, Clara, Cloyed, and Cloyce Trapp, and Clella Green. Four brothers, Clarence, Clyde, Clester, and Charlie Trapp. Survivors include a son, Dean “Buddy” and his wife Dianne Emberton of Smithville. One daughter, Brenda Steele of South Carolina. Jessie Lee Banks Melton

87 year old Jessie Lee Banks Melton of Beloit, Wisconsin and formerly of Smithville, died Monday. She was a Mechanist in Detroit, Michigan; owned and operated Mae’s Restaurant in Smithville; after moving to Beloit she was a caterer; a waitress at Dixie Cream Doughnuts; worked in retail; and was owner of a painting and cleaning business until retirement. She was active in politics, the girl scouts, a volunteer to the Beloit Health Department and school system. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Royce Moore will officiate and burial will be in the Braswell Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cleo Redmon Banks; a grandson, Michael Elmer; six brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include three children, Robert and his wife Gloria Melton of Beloit, Wisconsin; Nina and husband Randy Rosenbalm of Byron, Illinois; and Ila and husband Tom Monney of Tomahawk, Wisconsin. Five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren survive along with a sister, Rose and husband Haston Adcock of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. 84 year old Rubye Francis Moss of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of the First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Taylor Moss; parents, Albert and Eunice Matilda Beckwith Johnson; three sisters, Mildred Ervin, Nannie Pack, and Effie May Johnson; and three brothers, Glenn, Truett, and Lester Johnson. Survivors include one son, David and his wife Deborah Moss of Oregon. One daughter, Judy and her husband Edward Slawinski of Michigan. Three grandchildren, Ernin Moss of Oregon, Jennifer and Mark Snyder of Ohio, and Alex Slawinski of Michigan. One great grandchild, Samantha Snyder of Ohio.
