28 year old Jerry Lee Estes of Dowelltown died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Penecost and a self-employed tree trimmer. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Glenn Chapman will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Ararat Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alvie Estes and Ray Murphy. He is survived by children, Austin and Allison Estes, Destiny and Monie Murphy; his father and step-mother, Jerry “Frog” and Tammy Estes; his mother, Darlene Griffith Jackson; step-dad, Maurice Griffith; brothers, Matthew and Billy Griffith; grandparents, Dixie Estes and Cleta Horn; and lots of special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive. James M. Owens

70 year old James M. Owens of the Riverwatch Community died Tuesday night at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. A memorial service will be held at a later date. He is survived by his wife. Jane Owens of Riverwatch. Two sons, James Owens and his wife Tonya of Tullahoma and Charles Owens and his wife Monica of San Diego, California. Meelan Elosie Perry

70 year old Meelan Elosie Perry of Lancaster died Tuesday at Cookeville Regional Hospital. She was a retired Dowelltown Post Master, a Christian of the Cookeville Church of the Nazarene, and a member of the DeKalb County Women’s Republican Party. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Church of the Nazarene. Kevin Thomas will officiate and burial will be in the Gordonsville Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Sadie Rice Lindsey and a brother, James Lindsey. Survivors include her husband, Walter Perry of Lancaster. Three sons, Joel and his wife Teresa Perry of Greenbrier, Mark Perry of Florida, and Todd and his wife Teresa Perry of Dowelltown. Four grandchildren, Erin Perry, Josh and Meagan Perry all of Lancaster, Hailey Perry of Dowelltown, and Emily Perry of Greenbrier. 79 year old T.R. Raymond of McMinnville (Gath Community) died Saturday at his residence. He was born in DeKalb County, was a retired material handler with Carrier, a farmer, cattleman, a horse trader, and a Baptist. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at the Chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home. Bobby Muncey and Sam Odom will officiate and burial will be in the Gath Cemetery. The Raymond Family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until noon at McMinnville Funeral Home. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Leslie and Hassie Lee Certain Raymond; his first wife, Dorothy Jean Neely; his second wife, Leta Ann Cunningham; his sisters, Helen Raymond Bell, Louise Raymond Winchester, and Ruth Raymond Cantrell; and a brother, Walter Mutt Raymond. 41 year old Jeff Lassiter of McMinnville died Sunday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was born in Warren County, a bail bondsmen with Free Bird Bail Bonds, and a member of the Friendship The Baptist Church. 74 year old Erbie Dalton Christian of Alexandria died Wednesday at the Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. He was a logger and farmer. A graveside service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Baxter. Chris White will officiate. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Betty Ruth Christian; a son-in-law, Ricky Grisham; his parents, Nick and Ruby Christian; sisters, Elizabeth Davis. Evangeline Hood and Maggie Wheeler; and a brother, Eugene Christian. Christian is survived by a daughter, Barbara Grisham of Alexandria. A granddaughter, Crystal and her husband Danny Caldwell of Alexandria. Great grandchildren, Bryanna, Hannah, and Hunter. Brothers, James Christian of Buffalo Valley, Doyle Christian of Woodbury, and Roy Christian of Buffalo Valley. 26 year old Jamie Carl Hale of Liberty died Thursday in an ATV accident. He was a mechanic. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. 58 year old Nina Faye Page Wicks of Cookeville died Friday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel of Faith Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the Gospel of Faith Baptist Church on Tabernacle Road in DeKalb County. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Buck and Mina Bell Hale Page and two sisters, Lois Kennedy and Martha Page. She is survived by her husband, Phil Wicks of Cookeville. 81 year old Lillian Ruth Beasley of Dowelltown and formerly of Estill Springs died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. Mrs. Beasley made her home in Franklin County until 2005 when she moved to Dowelltown. Beasley is preceded in death by her husband, David Beasley and her mother and father. She is survived by her son, Barnie and LuAnne Creek of Dowelltown; Nathan and Teri Beasley of Lambertsville, Ohio; David and Joyce Beasley of Toledo, Ohio. A granddaughter, Candace Danielle Smith of Dowelltown. Three grandsons, Brayden Seth Creek of Dowelltown, and John and Jason Beasley of Lambertsville, Ohio. Great great-granddaughter, Nadia Celeste Meyer of Dowelltown. Special extended family, Barbara & Eric VanDuzen of Toledo, Ohio and Pat & Gary Mucha of Smithville.
