Mrs. Billie Ferrell Haley

86 year old Mrs. Billie Ferrell Haley of the Dibrell Community died Sunday at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. She was born in DeKalb County, a homemaker, and a member of the Dibrell Church of Christ. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home. Steve Hillis will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Haley was preceded in death by her parents, John Elisha and Dovie Mae Lassiter Ferrell and her husband, Roy E. Haley. Survivors include her children, Carole and husband Greg Thrower of Houston, Texas and Ann Haley Hutchings of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Amanda Carolina Thrower, Kim and husband Richard Lucas, Lilly and husband Allen King, and Martha Alethea Hutchings. Minnie Bell Ervin

105 year old Minnie Bell Ervin of Gallatin died Sunday at Brandywood Nursing Home. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Sumner Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home. Ervin was born in Smithville, daughter of the late Felix Ervin and Elsie Hicks Ervin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Page, Cora Ervin, Emma Ervin, and Rosie Durham. She is survived by one brother, Bill Ervin of Smithville and a niece, Betty Poole of Saint Charles, Missouri. Alexander Funeral Home of Gallatin is in charge of the arrangements.

Dollie Gertrude Massa Turner

80 year old Dollie Gertrude Massa Turner of Smithville died Sunday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holiness faith. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Gertie Johnson Ferrell; husbands, Will Johnson, W.R. Massa, and W.H. Turner; a daughter, Irene Johnson Bain; five step daughters, Lela Mae Hobbs, Maggie Bell Ashford, Willie Mae Nash, Myrtle Turner Ezell, and Bertha Massa Earley. Four step sons, Claudie, Hubert, and Andrew Johnson and Harley Massa. Three sisters, Linnie McMahan, Media Waldon, and Bessie Overbey. Three brothers, Jim, Robert, and Earl C. Ferrell. Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Dyer Stanley of Sparta, Jo Ann and husband Aubrey Meece of Dowelltown, and Linda Steinmark of Florida. 92 year old Cora Hampton of Smithville died Friday at NHC of Smithville. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mary Harmon Lawson; her husband, Lewis Hampton; three brothers, Hershel, Floyd, and Clarence Lawson; and five sisters, Estie Scurlock, Alice Seymour, Flora Warren, Lela Bratcher, and Emmer Hale. Robert Thomas O’Conner

82 year old Robert Thomas O’Conner of Dowelltown died Wednesday at Centennial Medical Center. He was a Baptist, a City of Smithville Police Officer and an Alexandria Police Officer, and he was a Mason for over 30 years. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Edwin Moore will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 pm. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha Bogle O’Conner and a brother, Norman O’Conner. Survivors include his wife, Doris O’Conner of Dowelltown. Four children, Bobby O’Conner of Dowelltown, Pat O’Conner and Polly Evins of Liberty, Mike and Rachael O’Conner of Dowelltown, and Anita and Dale Smith of Detroit, Michigan. 70 year old Marlene Sue Stapp of Smithville died Monday at her residence. She was a member of the Busy Bees, the Ladies Guild at Saint Gregory’s Catholic Church, and the FCE. She was also a retired book keeper at Moog. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Gregory’s Catholic Church. Father Jim Bretl will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Stapp was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stapp and her parents, Robert and Mollie Magee. She is survived by her children, Sherri and husband Mark Hutchings of Smithville, Joe and his wife Angee Stapp of Mishawaka, Indiana, Bill and his wife Tabbetha Stapp of Smithville, Charlu “Buffy” and Willie Frazier of Lascassas, Jim and his wife Donna Stapp of Smithville, and Molly and her husband Steve Craig of Murfreesboro. 38 year old Shane Wyatt Davis of Chicago, Illinois died Thursday at his residence. He was an attorney and a Methodist. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Keltonburg United Methodist Church. Dr. John Purdue will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m at the Keltonburg United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Wayne Davis; grandparents, Leslie and Jean Redmon; Jim Solon Davis; an uncle, Billy Jo Davis; and an aunt, Betsy Lynam. 100 year old Nettie Elizabeth Hicks Cubbins of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. 79 year old Archie Wright died Friday at the Livingston Hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial will be in the Brotherton Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. until the funeral. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Thelma Shaver Wright. 75 year old Loyde Ferrell of McMinnville died Sunday of a short illness at Stones River Hospital. He was a Cannon County native, a member of the Church of Christ, and a retired employee of the Colonial Corporation and the Woodbury Nursing Center. The funeral wil be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Norman Pelham will officiate and burial will be in the Blue Wing Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Carlie Watson Ferrell and his wife, Josie Brown Ferrell. He is survived by three sons, Lloyd, Jr. and his wife Tashau Ferrell of Woodbury, Cecil and wife Frankie Ferrell of McMinnville, and Mark and wife Tammy Ferrell of Smithville.
