Mildred Imogene Harden

91 year old Mildred Imogene Harden of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 77 years, co-owner of Harden’s Plumbing and Electric for 28 years and Jenkins and Darwin for 19 years. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Harden; her parents, Benton and Maggie Martin Sanders; two brothers, Franklin P. Sanders and Carl M. Sanders. Survivors include one brother, Benton Sanders, Jr. and his wife Violet of Smithville. Two sisters, Willlene Sanders Finley of Sparta and Bessie Sanders Ray of Orlando, Florida. A sister-in-law, Lois Steadman of Madison. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends, and business associates also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. ****Love-Cantrell Funeral Home would like to publicly apologize to the Imogene Harden family due to an oversight that took place on Mrs. Hardens obituary as it ran on WJLE on Sunday and Monday morning while arrangements were still pending. The error involved a line that had failed to be erased from the computer program that we use to send all of our obituaries to WJLE. The line incorrectly stated that the family had asked for donations to be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. This statement was at the bottom of the page where it had ran on a previous obituary that had been sent to WJLE just days before Mrs. Harden’s death and our staff failed to delete it while updating the obituary information. Mrs. Harden was an asset to this community and, along with her husband Alton, worked hard and saved to assure that she was in no way a burden to anyone. Mrs. Harden pre-planned her funeral with us and paid the balance in full many years ago. Thus no donations are needed for expenses because no expenses were left unpaid. Mrs. Imogene Harden was a dear friend to our family and we are all deeply sorry that this mistake was made. In no way was this done intentionally as our respect for Mrs. Harden was much too great.******

Thelma D. Kelley

87 year old Thelma D. Kelley of Alexandria died Sunday. She was born in Wilson County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alexandria. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Kenneth Tramel and Kirk Wagoner will officiate and burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thatis and Johnnie George Harden.; her husband, Ollie Lee “Tot” Kelley; brothers, Alton, J.W., and Vestal Harden; and sisters, Patty Ray Young and Bell Barnes. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Hilda and Jimmy Oakley of Liberty and Barbara and Ronnie Gibbs of Watertown. Arvil Norton

89 year old Arvil Norton died Sunday at his residence. He was a farmer, factory worker, a member of the Keltonburg Church of Christ and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Phillip Adcock and Burton Jones will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Norton; parents, Jim and Annie Chaffin Norton; two brothers, Virgil and Edwin Norton; and two sisters, Irene Brown and Zella Morrison. He is survived by his children, Russell and his wife Margaret Norton, Jackie and his wife Lisa Norton, and Brenda Kay and her husband Danny Cantrell all of Smithville. Clyde Austin LeFevre

80 year old Clyde Austin LeFevre died Thursday morning at his residence in Smithville. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in McMinnville, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Savage Goodner Camp 1513, and he was a Department Manager for 36 years with the Department of Social Services for the State of Michigan. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Tom Fittis and Jim Tollison will officiate and burial will be in Mount Holly Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Lee and Maureen Austin LeFevre. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Carol Ann LeFevre of Smithville. Children, Craig and his wife Margaret LeFevre of Cookeville, Zachary and his wife Verity LaFevre of Novi Pazaar, Bulgaria, William and his wife Hannah LeFevre of Bristol, and Amanda and her husband Greg McFadden of Westland, Michigan. Joe Harold Caldwell

71 year old Joe Harold Caldwell of Smithville died Thursday at his residence. He was a farmer and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bernard Houk and David Young will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Clyde Caldwell and Vera Summers Caldwell Cashion; a son, Ricky Caldwell; a daughter, Sharon Caldwell; four brothers, Eldridge, Cordell, Jerry, and Wayne Caldwell; and two sisters, Frances Murphy and Eva Lois Caldwell. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Matthews Caldwell of Smithville. Three daughters, Rhonda and her husband Glynn Merriman of Smithville, Angela Cantrell of Nashville, and Joanna and Joseph Call of Smithville. Two sons, Rex Caldwell of Beth Page and Randall and his wife Jerrie Marie Caldwell of Smithville. Helen Foutch Malone

64 year old Helen Foutch Malone of Smithville died Wednesday at her residence. She was a member of the Webb’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also a long-time banker and a former grocery store owner. The funeral will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Irene Foutch. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy and husband Roger Waynick of Brentwood. A son, Richard Malone of Dallas, Texas. Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Will, Roger Jr., and Katie Waynick of Brentwood, and Henry Malone of Dallas, Texas. A sister, Harriett and husband Wayne Cantrell of Smithville. Ronald D. Cooper

60 year old Ronald D. Cooper of Nashville died Sunday. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces and was awarded the Bronze Service Star during the Vietnam War. The funeral will be Thursday at 12:00 p.m. noon at the Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home in Nashville. Burial will be in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Margaret Sadler Cooper. He is survived by daughters, Amanda and husband Anthony Fuller and Kelly and husband Michael Agee. 73 year old Virginia Earlene Rich of Cookeville died Saturday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pomeroy Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. John Wilson will officiate and burial will be in the Petty Cemetery. 89 year old James Foutch Young of Smithville died Saturday at the Webb House Retirement Center. He was a retired Postal Carrier and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. 55 year old Nancy Carol Mier of Smithville died Friday at Centennial Medical Center. She was a CNA at Raintree Manor and a member of the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday until the service time at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover West, Jr. and Dorcas Cantrell West.
