74 year old Jimmy Walls of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was a retired U.S. Mail Carrier and a member and Chairman of the Deacons at the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dave Carden will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Falson and Ester Childers Walls; brothers, Frank, Jr., Rufus, and JVan Walls; and sisters, Willie White, Annie Hendrixson, Jennie Tramel, and Geraldine Walls. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marie Walls of Smithville. A son, Steven and his wife Susan Walls of Mississippi. Three grandchildren, Christina, Kimberly, and Christopher Walls of Mississippi and two sisters, Betty Sandlin and Erlene and her husband Charles Olson all of Smithville. 87 year old June F. Berridge of Smithville died Monday at NHC of Smithville. The body is at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete.

William S. “Bill” Wallace

88 year old William S. “Bill” Wallace of Smithville died Sunday at NHC of Smithville. He was a farmer and a member of the Smithville Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Carl Sifford, Sr. will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Harriman. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 10:00 a.m until 10:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Margaret “Mattie” Emanuel Wallace; his first wife, Merta Brown Wallace; three sons, Earl, Billy, and Stanley Wallace; two brothers, Charles and Jim Wallace; four sisters, Margaret Wallace, Minnie Gilmore, Annie Jo Turpin, and Martha Brown. He is survived by his wife, Jean Neal Wallace. Three sons, John E. Wallace of Powell, Tennessee; Carl Wallace of Conway, Arkansas; and Robert Wallace of Smithville. Four daughters, Sue and Joe Foster of Smithville, Linda and Danny Decker of Smithville, Mary and Dennis Gaddis of Coal City, Illinois, and Sarah Uerkwitz of Coal City, Illinois. Four step daughters, Nina Lawrence of Smithville, Donna Knowles of Smithville, Diane Evans of Short Mountain, and Betty Byford of McMinnville. Four step sons, Kenneth Neal of Smithville, Jimmy Neal of Smithville, Danny Neal, Sr. of Smithville, and David Neal of McMinnville. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive along with several nieces and nephews. Two daughters-in-law, Muriel Wallace of Smithville and Della Wallace of Herman, Tennessee. One brother, Ken Wallace of Knoxville. One sister, Bessie Strange of Knoxville, and one sister in law, Hazel Wallace of Knoxville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ann Dillon Trapp

70 year old Ann Dillon Trapp of Mount Juliet died Friday at Summit Medical Center at Hermitage. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where the service will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Gordonsville Cemetery. The Trapp family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Trapp was born in Davidson County, the daughter of the late Gladis Benton and Fred Dillon Jones. She was a 1958 graduate of Mount Juliet High School. She worked for the State of Tennessee Department of Revene fand for 10 years with the John Deal Company. She was a member of the Cloyd’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church and attended the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry Spencer Trapp of Mount Juliet. A daughter, Elaine and her husband Mike Thomas of Alexandria. A son, Wade Trapp of Alexandria. Four grandchildren, Jesse Hawkins, Greg Thomas, Stephen Thomas, and Kyle Thomas. A sister, Dorothy and her husband Ernest Birdwell of Hendersonville. 51 year old David Stephen Hembree died Wednesday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rocky Point Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Turner Underhill Hembree. One daughter, Stephanie and her husband Billy Geesling of Hilham. One step-son, Ken and his wife Julie Underhill of Smithville. Four sisters, Bobbie and her husband Steve Bruton, Teresa and her husband Ken Meadows, Gail and her husband Don Conatser, and Susie and her husband Roger McDonald, all of Cookeville. Two brothers, Danny and his wife Kathy Hembree and Terry and his wife Cynthia Hembree all of Cookeville. 53 year old Linda Jean Cooper of Smithville died Wednesday at her residence. She was a housewife. A memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery in Hammond, Illinois. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Brianna Horton. Survivors include children, Amanda and her husband Keith Shuttleworth of Smithville, Eddie Cooper II of Carthage, and Nikesha Pascal of Smithville. Grandchildren, Johnny Horton, Levi Horton, Brooklyn Horton, Kammi Horton, Hailey Shuttleworth, Wayne Shuttleworth, MaKayla Shutttleworth, Jamison Shuttleworth, Daniel Shuttleworth, Ambria Cooper, Selena Cooper, Kaden Pascal, and Mia Pascal. Nancy Marie Hale

50 year old Nancy Marie Hale of McMinnville and formerly of Smithville died Thursday morning. She was employed as a Senior Buyer at Shiroki North America in Smithville. A memorial service will be held at DeKalb Funeral Chapel on Tuesday. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow. She is survived by her parents, Richard and Patricia Fenimore; two sisters, Lynn and her husband Willard Smith and Robin and her husband Terry Tate; nieces and nephews, Nanci and her husband Eric Drennan, Chris and his wife Jeanette Allen, Patrick Allen, Jamie Tate, and Shawn and Bailey Tate; mother and father-in-law, Josephine and Lloyd Hale; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Patty Hale; and friends Rickey Hale and Lisa Colson. Dr. Joseph Lee Caten

68 year old Dr. Joseph Lee Caten of McMinnville died Sunday at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was born in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Caten was a graduate of the School of Medicine at Wayne State University and was a practicing physician for 41 years having retired from active practice in 2005. He worshipped with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dr. Caten was preceded in death by his parents Charles Denton and Emma Lee Roller Caten. The funeral wil be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Michael Weeter will officiate and burial will be in Stubblefield Cemetery. The Caten family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Darlene Anderson Caten of McMinnville and their seven children, Joey and Tracy Caten of Morrison; Brian and Rosanne Caten of McMinnville; Eric and Camille Caten of Sandy Utah; Cristie Caten Newman and husband Tony of Ramona, California; Steven and Holly Caten of American Fork, Utah; Justin and Kimberly Caten of McMinnville; and Jamie Caten Lyman and husband Thom of Blanding, Utah. 45 year old Sandra Lee Brown Grandstaff of Alexandria died Monday at UMC Medical Center in Lebanon. She was a Baptist and a machine operator for Hartman Luggage. The funeral will be Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Junior Hibdon and Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Brown and a sister, Donna Kay Florida. Survivors include two daughters, Kristy Grandstaff of Alexandria and Leah Grandstaff of Brush Creek. Three sisters, Charlene and her husband Barry Thaxton of Alexandria, Audrey and her husband Bobby Charles Martin of Liberty, and Yvonne Brown of Dowelltown. 72 year old Kathryn Colvert Cantrell of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She wasa retired Guidance Counselor at DeKalb County High School, member of the Smithville First Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Smithville Women’s Study Club, and a member of the Red Hats Society. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville First Baptist Church. Entombment will be at DeKalb Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John P. and Eliza Vickers Colvert and a son, David Sean Cantrell. Survivors include her husband, Waniford Cantrell of Smithville. Sons, Steven Allen and his wife Gloria Cantrell of Washington, D.C. and Andrew Todd Cantrell of Smithville. Grandchildren, John Colvert Cantrell of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and J.W.
