Jackie Diane George Burton

Jackie Diane George Burton age 60 of Smithville passed away Friday morning at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born November 22, 1956 in Nashville. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Roy D. Mathis and Alvin “Buck” Burton and her father, Floyd George. She attended Whorton Springs Baptist Church and was a sewing machine operator. Survivors include 4 children, Adam (Wanda) Mathis of Smithville, Dianne (Chris) Crook of Smithville, Joe (Amanda) Burton of Livingston and Karen (Aaron) Lester of Smithville; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Deanda Wilkey of McMinnville, Carolyn Terry of Murfreesboro, Patricia Lake of Murfreesboro and Shelia Adamson of Dowelltown; special nieces, Shelia Gaw, Sandy Grantham and Martha Knowles. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Monday, February 27, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Christine Watson

83 year old Christine Watson of Smithville died Friday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. She was a factory worker and a member of the Banks Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Greg Whaley and Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until the service at 3 p.m. Watson was preceded in death by her parents, Denton and Estie Mae Lawson Scurlock; husband, Thomas Watson; three brothers, Alvie, Austin and Vernon Scurlock; and a sister, Ollie Mae Scurlock Bratcher. Survivors include two daughters, Jacquelyn and Don Camillo of South Carolina and Teresa Watson Miller of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Tina and Alisha Miller, Amanda Miller, and Julie Miller Pugh all of Smithville. Two step grandchildren, Lori Grant of South Carolina and Troy Camillo of Ohio. Five great grandchildren, Alyssa and Sarah Pugh of Smithville, Alohna, Malachi, and Noah of Smithville. Five step great grandchildren. Mildred Arnold

80 year old Mildred Arnold of Smithville died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a retired shirt factory worker and a member of the Church of God Seventh Day. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Paul Dunlap will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvestor and Emmie Elizabeth George Fish; a son, Jimmy Dean Arnold; and three brothers, Marlon and James Fish and Johna Bullard. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Jimmy Arnold; two sons, Charles and Darlene Arnold all of Smithville, Ricky and Anita Arnold; a granddaughter, Molly and Devin Merriman; one great grandson, Colton Merriman all of Short Mountain; a sister, Marie Sneed of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Martha Elizabeth Snow

97 year old Martha Elizabeth Snow of Smithville died Tuesday at Trevecca Health & Rehab in Davidson County. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Snow was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Provie Byford Blair; husband, Claudie Snow; infant daughter, Geraldine Snow; great grandson, Cristopher Nava; a brother, Calvin Blair; and two sisters, Gertrude Campbell and Versi Mai Cope. Survivors include two sons, Jerry and Linda Snow of Nashville and Claudie Lee, Jr. and Carol Snow of Colorado. Seven grandchildren, Elaine and Gilbert Nava, Steven and Michelle Snow all of Colorado, Janie and Dean Yannacito of Kansas, Sandra and Michael Dasilva of Colorado, Jerry, Jr and Patty Snow of Springfield, Janice Rodriguez and Pamela Hagar all of Nashville. Bryan Garrett Sadler

Funeral services for Bryan Garrett Sadler, 32, of Cookeville will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday February 25, 2017 from the chapel of Presley Funeral Home.
He is survived by his parents: Edwin and Jane Sadler, a sister, Sonja House, and two brothers, Brett and Blake Sadler.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00am until the time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Sadler passed away on Thursday February 16, 2017 in Cookeville.
Bryan was a correctional officer, the sports announcer for the Cookeville Cavaliers and a TSSAA baseball umpire.

Nelson Eugene Hall

Mr. Nelson Eugene Hall, age 84 of Alexandria, TN passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN.
Mr. Hall was born on September 6, 1932 in Brush Creek, TN to his parents, the late Nelson Russell and Mary Jane Grandstaff Hall. He married his wife of 54 years, Ruth Delaney on July 8, 1960, and she precedes him in death. Also preceding in death is his son, Wallace Ray Hall. Mr. Hall graduated from Alexandria High School and served 21 years in the United States Navy, retiring at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Hall attended the Alexandria First Baptist Church.
Mr. Hall is survived by two daughters, Faye and husband David Werner of Lakeland, TN and Barbara and husband Jim Stamatis of Millington, TN. Grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Jim Snuggs of Hernando, MS, Hunter Stamatis of Millington, TN, Lauren and husband Richard Beard of Murfreesboro, TN, Andrea and husband Matt Hutton of Murfreesboro, TN, Wesley E. Hall of Peoria, IL and Kristin Hall of Madison, IN. Great grandchildren, Hunter Roberts, Nathan Beard, Erin Beard, Alivia Adams, and Keaton Adams. Mrs. Viva Gay Vickers age 79 of Liberty, TN, died Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was born March 08, 1937, in Cannon County, TN, was a retired employee of the DeKalb Co School District and member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Mrs. Vickers was preceded in death by parents, Dewey and Hattie White Prater; husband, Thomas Harold Vickers; sisters, Bell Prater, Christine Prater Davis, Ola Lorene (Tommy) Robinson, and Gladys (Jack) Page; and brothers, James, Billy and Paul Prater.
Survivors include son, Tony (Sheila) Vickers; daughter, Tonya Silcox; sisters, Pauline Lance, Joyce Reed, Marie Melton, and Lois Davis; brother, Hubert Prater; sister-in-law June Prater; grandchildren Thomas Dalton (Cheyenne) Silcox, Harlli Whyte Silcox, Logan Vickers, Emily Vickers, and Olivia Vickers; 1 great-granddaughter, Addison Silcox.

80 year old George White Herman of McMinnville died Monday at his residence. He was a retired nurseryman and a member of the Short Mountain Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Charlie Stanton will officiate and burial will be in the Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Hassie Herman; step mother, Leona Herman; first wife, Bessie Marie Herman; a son, Lester Earl Herman; step son, Sam (Powell) Murphy; granddaughter, Cassandra Ann; sisters, Pearl Pittard, Daisy Herman, Clara Mai Caldwell; brothers, Elmer Herman, J.E. Emily Dianne Freeman Durham

Emily Dianne Freeman Durham of Priceville, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2017 . She was at home and under the care of Hospice of the Valley. She was born Wednesday, August 3, 1949, in Wilmington, North Carolina to Leonard Maness Freeman and Margaret Estelle Mills Freeman. On April 4, 1969, she married the love of her life, Ray Durham and was blessed with a son, Scott Durham. She lived her life for them. She as not vain and was a selfless, unmaterialistic, giving woman. She was a champion for those who could not defend themselves. Those that were close to her received her undyling love. She was an avid reader, traveler, Yahtzee player, and loved spending time with her family. She worked as a civil servant for over 38 years, working most of her time with the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers. She was a tireless worker and volunteer. She spent many years giving her time to the youth sports of Decatur, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents: Leonard Manuss Freeman and Margaret Estelle Mills Freeman and her brother: Leonard Maness Freeman, Jr. Survivors include: Husband, Ray Durham, Jr.; One Son, Scott Durham and wife, Amber; Three Grandchildren, Andrew, Alan and Kelsey Durham; One Sister, Lynda Luna. Lorelle Murphy

Lorelle Murphy age 78 of Watertown died Saturday evening, Feb. 18, 2017 at the Tennova Medical Center in Lebanon. Born in White County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Ludie Mae Hicks Griffin and was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Murphy and a brother, Eston Griffin. Lorelle attended the Athens Missionary Baptist Church and had a 30 yr. career in the cafeteria at the Watertown Elementary and Jr. High Schools. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Baker and her husband, Dan of Watertown and Tammy Manning and her husband, Bill of Lebanon; grandchildren, Allison Gannaway of Stephenville, TX and Adam Manning of Lebanon; brother, George Griffin of Smithville and 2 nephews. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown with Bro. Kevin Harrison and Bro. Pat Eller officiating.
