Eugenia Agnes Dupius

80 year old Eugenia Agnes Dupius of Alexandria, a homemaker and caterer, died Monday at her residence. She was born in Windsor, Ontario Canada. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Gregory’s Catholic Church. Father Jim Bretl S.D.S. will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home .A Rosary will be Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Visitation Thursday will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Agnes Popieluch Kapustiac; her husband of 57 years, Edgar Hiram Dupius; and a sister, Helen Dzierkowski. Survivors include her children, Diane and husband Bjoern Papasian of Michigan, Denise and husband Robert Snyder of Alexandria, Daniel and wife Diane Dupius of Michigan, and Darlene and husband John Thomas of Murfreesboro. James Bartley Duke

81 year old James Bartley Duke of Lancaster died Monday at Cedars Health Care Center in Lebanon. He was a member of the Long Branch United Methodist Church, a farmer, and a school bus driver. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mark Miller will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wives, Ruby Lee Hill Duke and Mable Duke; his parents, Homer and Beulah Putty Duke; and brothers, George Duke, Leon Duke, and Odell Duke. Dorothy Mae Haynes

76 year old Dorothy Mae Haynes of Alexandria died Saturday at her residence. She was a DeKalb County native, Methodist, and a homemaker. The funeral will be Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Burial will be in the Commerce Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Thomas Haynes; a son, Michael Lynn Haynes; a granddaughter, Jennifer Haynes; and her parents, Berry and Jennie Gilley Driver. Survivors include a daughter, Melonee and her husband Terry Payne of Alexandria. One son, Sammy R. Haynes of Alexandria. Three grandchildren, Angela Haynes and Nicholas and Brody Payne. Robert Edward Moss

83 year old Robert Edward Moss of Woodbury died Tuesday of a short illness at Centennial Hospital. He was a DeKalb County native, a World War II Army veteran, and retired from the V.A. in Murfreesboro. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bobby Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Bryant Moss. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Louise Moore Moss of Woodbury. A sister, Eva Gray Youngblood of Woodbury. Nieces, Cortilla and her husband Donald Fann of Woodbury; Kathleen Dunn of Phoenix, Arizona; Betty Depew of Midland, Texas; and Linda Eller of Chattanooga. Jack W. Wall

70 year old Jack W. Wall of Smithville died Sunday at the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church, and a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, and AARP. Wall was a 24 year decorated war veteran, having retired from the U.S. Air Force, and he was a mechanic. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Tim Ferguson will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Maud Delong Wall. Survivors include his children, Becky and her husband Tye Mills of Aurora, Colorado; Kay Wall of Westminster, Colorado; Brenda and her husband Dave Houle of Tolland, Connecticutt; and Tom and his wife Kathy Wall of Smithville. 79 year old Flora Ethell Redmon of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Corinth Church of Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dan Gulley and Andy Pack will officiate and burial will be in the Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m.until 9:00 p.m.; Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles Pack and Clarence Redmon; three children, Charles Pack, Jr., Ricky Eston, and Terry Kenneth Pack; her parents, Eddie and Martha Turner; one sister, Lala Tittsworth; and two brothers, Royce and Norman Turner. Survivors include two sons, Doug and his wife Patricia Pack of Rock Island and Richey Pack of Smithville. Four daughters, Paulette Atchley of Rock Island, Ivy Barnes, Deborah and her husband Jimmy Ray Driver; and Sonya and her husband Allan Hale all of Smithville. Margaret Greer Malone

87 year old Margaret Greer Malone of Alexandria died Thursday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was born in Dickson County, the daughter of the late Lillie Dinkins and Clarence Greer. A brother, Robert Greer preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Zelma and Chris Benzenhafer and a cousin, Nelson Benzenhafer. She was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School in Nashville. She was married to Elmer Dale Malone, Sr. and he preceded her in death. She retired from Work Wear Corporation of Alexandria. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Alexandria. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ronnie Smith and Ricky Scott will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria. The Malone family will receive friends at Avant Chapel on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dale, Jr. and Marie Malone of Mount Juliet. 99 year old Jessie Mae Underwood of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC of Smithville. She was a homemaker, a charter member of the Short Mountain Church of God, where she taught the Ladies Bible Class until late in her 90’s. She was a correspondent for the Smithville Review for several years. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Toy C. Underwood; her parents, John Robert and Lillie Motley; brothers, Comer and Hoyte Motley; and two sisters, Naomi and Mary Elizabeth Motley. Survivors include two sons, Joe Underwood of Smithville and Bob and his wife Althea Underwood of Florida. One daughter, Dorothy and her husband Frank Morrison of Woodbury. Seven grandsons, Max, Mike, Calvin, Albert, David, and Leo Underwood and Larry Daniel. Three granddaughters, Denise Stanton, Tonya Locke, and Joy McKelvey. Frances West Pirtle of Woodbury died Monday. She had worked for Colonial Shirt Factory and Val D’or for 36 years combined. She attended the United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Woodbury. Thomas Nichols will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Her parents were the late Marshell West and Elmer Belle Jones West. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Myrtis West and Edwin West and three sisters, Margie Jones, Ruth Melton, and Vilda Young. Survivors include her husband, Freddie Pirtle of Woodbury; a son at heart, Nile House; three sisters, Joann Smithson of McMinnville, Helen Raymond, and Lou Redmon both of Smithville, and a special caretaker, Hazel Bain. 85 year old Will E “Bill” Midgett of Dowelltown died Thursday at his residence. He was a retired owner of the DeKalb Drive-In Theater and a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church.
