65 year old Margaret Petway Baughman of Peru, Indiana died November 12 at her residence. A graveside service will be Sunday, February 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Members of the family will officiate. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a sales representative for Tender Hearts Greeting Cards. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burns and Anita Groom of Smithville. Survivors include an aunt, Mary Ruth Groom of Smithville. Cathy Ann Holmes age 64 of Liberty passed away Friday morning, February 3, 2017 at Tennova HealthCare in Lebanon. She was born September 19, 1952 to her parents, the late Virgil and Dorothy Cowger Warders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Homles and 1 nephew, Daniel Warders. Cathy worked as a delivery driver. She is survived by 1 sister, Sharon (Jim) Brazier of Liberty; 1 brother, Bill (Chris) Warders of Phoenix, AZ; 10 nieces and nephews. The family has honored Cathy’s request to be cremated and a private interment of the cremains will be held. No public services are planned. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Tammye Saylors Estes age 47 of the Pea Ridge Community of Liberty, passed away Thursday night at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. She was born August 16, 1969 to her parents, the late William Avon Saylors and Willene Shehane Saylors. In addition to her parents, Tammye was preceded in death by 1 son, Jerry Lee Estes; 2 brothers, Thomas and Sonny Atnip; 1 sister, Judy Eastes. She was a medical clerk and a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Jerry “Frog” Estes of Liberty; grandchildren, Austin Lee Estes, Destiny Murphy, Monie Murphy and Allison Nash; Siblings, Suzie Paulette (Bobby) Parker of Woodbury, Michael (Frances) Saylors of Smithville; Margie (Gary) Williams of Alexandria, Betty George of Smithville, Linda Fite of Dowelltown, Gail (Marlon) Bain of McMinnville, Roy Douglas Atnip of Smithville; 2 Aunts, Frances (Harlon) Bates and Jessie Bell Johnson both of Smithville; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. June Bennett
Mrs. June Bennett of Brush Creek, TN passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Webb House in Smithville, TN, where she has lived since 2010. Mrs. Bennett was 93 years of age.
Mrs. Bennett was born June 17, 1923 in St. Louis, MO to Thomas and Rella Anderson. She grew up in Knoxville, TN with brothers Thales, Rolland, and Roger. At the beginning of World War II, Mrs. Bennett became one of the Government Girls. She, along with many young women from around the country, left her home and went to Washington DC to fill positions needed for the war effort. There she met and later married a young soldier, Mr. George Emerson Bennett of Brush Creek, TN. The Bennett family lived in Knoxville, TN, Marrietta, GA, and Huntsville, AL before settling in Brush Creek, TN in the early 1970s.
Mrs. Bennett has always been active in her community. She has shared her time and talents in many different ways over the years by volunteering with the Brush Creek United Methodist Church, the Brush Creek Community Club, the Home Demonstration Club, and other local organizations.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, George Bennett, who died in 2001, and by her son, Dr. David Bennett, Sr., who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Bennett Throne and her brother, Roger Anderson. Mrs. Bennett will be deeply missed by her son-in-law, Ken Throne, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Karen Bennett as well as by her grandchildren David Bennett, Jr. with his wife Michella, Dr. Martha Bennett, Melissa Ransom Bennett Schwerzler with her husband Martin, Ryan Gordon Throne, and Brittany Throne and her as her great-grandchildren Cora, Emerson, and Claire Bennett and Cole and Sabrina Schwerzler.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of the staff of the Webb House who have given Mrs. Bennett such considerate and loving care for so many years.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bennett are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 1PM with Bro. Floyd Massey officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery.
Visitation with the Bennett family will be on Thursday from 6PM until 8PM and again on Friday after 12 Noon until service time at 1PM.

84 year old William Hobert Page of Smithville died Tuesday night at Kindred Health Care Center in Carthage. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was also retired from Avco. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Garry McBride and James Gibbs will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cecil and Iva Laura Judkins Page; a brother, Lionel Page; and two sisters, Mildred Page and Wilma Parkerson. 69 year old Joseph Vickers of Liberty died Saturday at Erlanger Hospital. He was a farmer and a 25 year member of the Pisgah Methodist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pisgah Methodist Church. Perry Clayton and Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Vickers was preceded in death by his parents, Andy Vickers and Dorothy Bain and a sister-in-law, Teresa Vickers. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Wanda Sue Vickers of Liberty. Dena Pace Haugh
Dena Pace Haugh, age 72 of Dowelltown, TN. passed from his life peacefully surrounded by her family, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her father Carl Pace and beloved aunt Dena Plummer. She is survived by her husband of 33 years Carlton “Skip” Haugh; her mother Gloria Birdsong of Georgia; brothers, Lee Pace of Mississippi and Charles (Joan) Birdsong of Georgia; four sons, Shannon Chatham of Louisiana, Brandon (Christine) Chatham of Georgia, John (Misty) Haugh of Tennessee and Mike Haugh of Oregon; one daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Barbre of California. Eleven granddaughters, Melissa, Trielle, Michaela, Mackenzie, Savannah, Samantha, Kaileigh, Isabella, Kaelyn, Cossette, and Alexis; three grandsons, Joshua, Asher, and Josiah; two great granddaughters, Ella and Anabelle; one great grandson, Jack; two nephews, Eric and Trevor Birdsong. She also leaves behind several cousins, dear friends, and co-workers. Dena was retired from the DeKalb County School System after over 15 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Dena had chosen direct cremation. The family has requested instead of flowers or gifts that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society. Janis Dearman Murphy
Retired school teacher, Janis Dearman Murphy, daughter of the late Charles Foster Dearman, Sr., and Ada Mildred Dearman, and sister of the late Charles Foster Dearman, Jr., passed away Thursday evening, February 2, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was 76 years old. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Billy Judd Murphy, and two sons and their families: Jason Judd Murphy, wife Tamara, and children, Nixon Alexander and Addison Grace; and Jeremy Dearman Murphy, wife Sabra, and daughters, Briahna Ryan and Braya Shalon; one brother, Jim Dearman and wife Janis and several nieces and nephews. In attendance at her death and officiating at the final services will be her brother, gospel preacher Jim Dearman. Also, having a part in the funeral will be gospel preachers Dan Gulley and Tim Woodward.
“Mrs. Murphy” was a much-loved, highly-respected, and influential school teacher, who retired in 2005, after 44 years of service in education, primarily in the DeKalb County system. She began her career with the Nashville City Schools in 1962.
Mrs. Murphy was a faithful member of the Smithville Church of Christ, where her father served as an elder until his resignation due to ill health. She also was a member of the Smithville Study Club, supporting the arts in the community.
The family will receive visitors at the DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Saturday, February 4, from 11 A. M. to 9 P. M. There will be another visitation at the Smithville Church of Christ, Sunday, February 5, at 2 P. M., prior to the funeral service at 3 P. M.

Ms. Tina Fisher Young, age 52, of Sparta, TN, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at her home.
Ms. Tina was born in Smithville, TN on September 5, 1964 to Linda Ann Fisher and Robert Hunt.
Survivors include mother, Linda Ann Fisher ( Michael) Ramsey; 2 sons, William Corey Young and Trevor Kane Young; 1 step son, Justin Young; 1 sister, Chelsea Ramsey; 3 brothers, William J. Harris, Charlie J. Harris and Michael D. Ramsey; special grand parents, the late Robert and Robbie Fisher and Walter Phillips and the late Louise Phillips; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also a special friend, Mimi Young.
