95 year old Velma Farler of the Snow Hill Community died Sunday. She was a life long member and at the time of her death, the oldest member, of the Snow Hill United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Snow Hill United Methodist Church where visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Royce Martin and Doyle Slager will officiate. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Farler was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny F. and Ellie Crook Hendrixson; her husband, Othel Claxton Farler, and a brother, James Monroe Hendrixson. Survivors include a daughter, Billie Sue Parker of Smithville. A grandson, Kenneth W. Parker and his wife Doris of Gallatin. Charles Raymond Jewell

65 year old Charles Raymond Jewell of Smithville died Sunday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He was a native of Watertown, employed at Texas Boot Company, and was a farmer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Mark Miller will officiate and burial will be in the Poplar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Martha Ann Ingram Jewell and sons, Kevin Raymond Jewell and Daryl Wayne Jewell. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Reynolds Jewell of Smithville. 32 year old Larry League, Jr. of Silver Point died Thursday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Northside Church of Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Carr, Jr. and Byrnes Lyons will officiate and burial will be in the Silver Point Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry League, Sr. and Judy League; his maternal grandparents, Claudie and Bonnie League and his paternal grandfather, Donald League. He is survived by two daughters, Tiffani League of Cookeville and Nakita League of Sparta. Two sons, Lance Clark League of Gallatin and D’Andre League of McMinnville. A sister, Loretta and her husband William Clemmons of Georgia. His paternal grandmother, Jeanette League of Smithville. Two nieces, Victoria and Bria Clemmons of Georgia. 54 year old Thomas E. Carr of Nashville died Thursday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. The body is at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete.

Cordell Carson Evans

74 year old Cordell Carson Evans of Smithville died Friday morning at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church and was retired after 35 years of service from TRW. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Ricky Arnold and Kenneth Clayton will officiate and burial will be in the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershell and Nancy Bond Evans, Sr.; brothers, Jack, Donald, and Hershall Evans, Jr.; sisters, Nina May Evans, Dorothy Turner, and Lerlen Nelson. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Young Evans of Smithville. Children, Deborah and her husband Brian Lehan of Madison and Dell Evans and Ricky and his wife Sherry Evans all of Smithville. Charles Clifton Robinson

86 year old Charles Clifton Robinson of Smithville died Thursday at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He was a retired factory worker and a farmer. Robinson was also a Mason, a member of Liberty Lodge #77. He served in the United States Army from December 26th, 1942 to December 20th, 1945. He was a technician, fifth grade, and served with the 3808th Quartermasters Truck Company. Robinson was in combat in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, the European Theater Ribbon with five bronze stars, the Good Conduct Metal, and the World War II Victory Medal. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bill Robertson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. A Masonic Service will be Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Ethel Hullett Robinson; a brother, Edward Robinson; and three sisters, Calysta Pedigo, Delia Foutch, and Lois Williams. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Evans Robinson. Two step-grandchildren, Kristi Russell and Amy Gosnell both of Kansas City, Missouri. Eight great grandchildren, Isaac, Keirstine, Kaden, Hunter, and Chloe Robinson, and Evan Prichard, Caroline, and Madelyn Tobitt. Two brothers, Brisco and his wife Helen Robinson of Cookeville and Carl and his wife Jo Robinson of Morrison. Three sisters, Omega Hayes, Mary and her husband Paul Parsley, and Jo and her husband Jesse Baker all of Smithville. A brother-in-law, James Foutch. A sister-in-law, Marie Robinson. Jim Moore, Jr.

81 year old Jim Moore, Jr of Woodbury died Tuesday of an extended illness. He was born in Smithville. He was also a Baptist, a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea, and he was a sewing machine mechanic at the Vanderbilt Shirt Manufacturing Company for 26 years. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Frank Blair will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Riley and Ollie Gertrude Pack Moore and a daughter, Starreta. 47 year old Christie Darlene Bouldin Bennett of Dowelltown died suddenly Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. A graveside service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bybee’s Chapel Cemetery in Warren County. David Carden will officiate. The body is at High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Bouldin and a brother, Jodie Crick. 58 year old Kenneth Ray Herman of McMinnville died Saturday at River Park Hospital of an extended illness. He was a member of the Smartt Station Church of God, a Vietnam veteran, and a nursery worker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. 58 year old LeRoy Hale of Woodbury died Friday in Nashville. He was disabled and a Baptist. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. His parents were the late Joe Eddie Hale and Christine Davenport Hale.
