83 year old Robert Charles Cassinera of Smithville died Wednesday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a native of Brooklyn, New York, a World War II Navy veteran, and a retired school psychologist. Survivors include his son, Stephen Cassinera and his wife, Jennifer of Smithville; five grandchildren; Bryan, Wendy, Timothy, Emily, and David Cassinera; three great grandchildren; Bryan, Joshua, and Joseph Cassinera. No services are planned. The body will be cremated and interment will be at the V.A. cemetery in Nashville.

Jimmie Doris Vickers
80 year old Mr. Jimmie Doris Vickers of Smithville died Friday night at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mark Bass will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. He was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He served for a total of 33 years. Vickers also served for many years in the National Guard. He was a Past President of the Jaycees and a former Smithville Fire Chief, member of the V.F.W., and American Legion, and he was a Shriner, Mason, and member of Liberty Lodge. Mr. Vickers was also the owner of Sligo Boat Dock for six years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Solon and Inez Parker Vickers. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Vickers of Smithville. A son, Jimmie D. Vickers, Jr. of Smithville. Grandchildren, Tish Groshan of Georgia and John Cory Vickers of Murfreesboro. Great grandchildren, Dillan Burns and Hannah Groshan. Two half-sisters, Delois Howl and Dorothy Forkum both of Orlando, Florida and a special friend, Sandra Riffey. 80 year old Gerald R. Leasure of New Hope Road, Alexandria died Friday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Eltis N. Brown will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria. The Leasure family will receive friends at Avant Chapel on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lucy Leasure of Alexandria. Their daughter, Jeri Ann Parker of Alexandria. His six children, Gerald Leasure, Jr. of Diamond, Ohio; Harold Leasure of Livingston, California; William Leasure of Orlando, Florida; Howard Leasure of Canton, Ohio; Margaret Jane Leasure of Smithville; and Dennis Leasure of Smithville. Her six children, Robert Wright of Hohenwald; John Wright of Smithville; Judy Wright of Hohenwald; Dave Wright of Hohenwald; Cheryl Campbell of Liberty; and Kenny Wright of Livingston. George Alexander
77 year old George Alexander of Gassaway died Monday. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nova (Hollandsworth) Alexander; his father and step-mother, Martin & Helen (Scott) Alexander; his wife, Hazel (Ramsey) Alexander and two brothers, Samuel Alexander and Tom Alexander. Survivors include a special nephew, Kevin Alexander of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Velda Alexander of Murfreesboro; fiancee, Mae Ann Davenport of Readyville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie & Shirley Ramsey of Old Hickory, Shirley Ramsey of Gassaway, Jimmy & Judy Ramsey of Sycamore; and several nieces and nephews. Alexander was a member of the Gassaway Church of Christ. He was a retired employee of the Bank of Commerce. He worked for Smith Funeral Home in years past. Alexander was known as the “Mayor of Gassaway”. He was active in all events in Gassaway, the Fire Dept. Breakfast & Supper, Gassaway Homecoming, 4th of July Celebration and Christmas activities. He was member of the Gassaway and Cannon County Senior Centers.Visitation will begin on Wednesday from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. 83 year old Lula Mae Booth of Ohio and a native of the Jefferson Community in DeKalb County, died Saturday at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was a retired factory worker. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 2:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation Thursday will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Eldridge and Hallie Mae Adcock Thweatt; a brother, Jesse Thweatt; sisters, Stella Young, Martha Gribble, Eldridge Thweatt, and Betty Judkins. Survivors include her husband, James F. 92 year old Elsie Mai Tramel of Alexandria died Monday at her son’s residence in Lebanon. She was a DeKalb County native, a homemaker and a member of the West Main Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Elizabeth Mullican Vandagriff; her husband Roscoe Tramel; brothers and sisters, Frank, Sam, Clyde, Garlon, Glenn, Vadie, Thelma, Dean, Ala Ray, James, and Alene. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Peggy Tramel of Lebanon. She was the retired owner and operator of Robinson’s Fish Market, a member of the Bordeaux Baptist Church, and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #342. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. David Watson and Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Dixon Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hughy and Cora Vanatta Hibdon and her husband, J.D. Robinson.
