31 year old April Patterson of Smithville died Saturday at her residence. She was a nurse. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m. She is survived by her husband, Shawn Patterson of Smithville. Three children, Joshua, Danielle, and Justin Patterson. Her parents, David and Pam Roach of Smithville. A brother, David Nathan Roach of Smithville. Her grandparents, Gail Bishop of Smithvile and Marion Pose of Mobile, Alabama. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Dennis Rigsby
61 year old Dennis Rigsby of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Mount Hope The Baptist Church and a U.S. Marine Veteran. He was also a member of the Liberty Lodge # 77, the Short Mountain Lodge #373, the Eastern Star #374, and a Shriner. Rigsby was retired from Carrier where he worked for 33 years. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Leslie Moore and Tim Baker will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. A Masonic Service will be held Monday night at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Lenda Rigsby of Smithville. Two children and their spouses, Tommy Wayne and Karen Rigsby of Smithville and Shannon and Dale Garner of Morrison. Four grandchildren, Roberta Applegate, Piper Jordan Rigsby, Steven Dale Garner, and Cannan Hope Garner. His parents, Willie Lee and May Rigsby of Smithville and a special friend, Jimmy Taylor. Mrs. Bertha A. “Berk” Moore age 77 of Smithville passed away Monday Feb 25, 2008 at her home. She chose cremation.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday March 1st from 3-5 pm at the Smithville Church of the Nazarene fellowship hall.
Mrs.Moore is survived by 2 sons, Steven Moore of Smithville and George Moore of smithville. A daughter, Pam and Lee Leak of Old Hickory, TN. Four grandchildren. Brother in law, Walter Prichard of Smithville and a sister in law, Gloria Albu of Marianna, Fla. and many neices and nephews.

69 year old Bonnie S. LaFever of Ragland Bottom Road, Sparta died Tuesday at her residence. She was born in Fayette County to the late Talmadge and Ruby Garner Houston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Houston Davis and a brother, Lawrence Houston. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta. Faye Tucker, Dr. Scott Hall, and Ralph Benningfield will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, Calvin Urias LaFever of Sparta. One sister, Shelby Jean Houston McWherter of Somerville, Tennessee. Three brothers, Joseph Ray Houston and his wife Cyleno of Hickory Valley, Tennessee, Garner Houston and his wife Sue of Somerville, Tennessee, and Donald Houston of Somerville. 56 year old Margie Cox Herndon died Monday in Bristol after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Cox. Survivors include her father,Adron Cox; her husband, Bob Herndon; a son, Hunter Herndon; a daughter, Tracy Carrier and her husband Dennis Carrier; two grandsons, Alex and Nick Carrier; two sisters; a brother; and eight nieces and nephews. 91 year old Lorene Haley Eaton of Alexandria died Sunday at HQM of Nashville. She was a Cannon County native and a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Don Elmore will officiate and burial will be in the Hearn Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Eaton; a daughter, Margaret Ann Eaton; a son, John Ray Eaton; parents, John and Bonnie Haley; and brothers, Brownie and Demmon Haley. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Gannon of Donelson. A son, Billy Eaton of Watertown. A brother, Garvin Haley of McMinnville. Seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 67 year old Mary Frances “Josie” Shehane of Smithville died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center of Smithville. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mattie Lee Adcock Cantrell; her husband, Frank Shehane; two daughters, Katrina Bain and Peggy Frances Bain; four brothers, Carl, John, Joseph “Toot”, and Gene Cantrell; and a sister, Macon Haas. Caidyn Michael Brawner, the two month old infant of Jason Randall Melin and Amy Elizabeth Brawner of Hermitage, died Thursday at his residence. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Malissia Linder; three brothers, Classie, George, and Seber Linder; three sisters, Mary Lou Linder, Mrs. Paul Martin, and Ada Boyd; a half-sister, Gracie Evans and seven nieces and nephews. Survivors include a sister, Martha Jane Kelley of Lebanon. Thirty seven nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews survive along with caregiver Kristen Blair.
